looks like another ASOT clone with nice tunes of good producers but nothing really suprising, but the time track i love so i give ya a 5 u dont listen to ASOT and found the traxx by yourself so i give ya as well a 6(edited)

mixing: 3

well too much Echo over the bass u need to work more with the equlizer, also i think some other positions in the traxx would fit better to mix them
but well sure just a matter of taste

build up: 4

good intro but the first few traxx are maybe a bit too fast allready sounds all the time like the same bpm no variation like a breakbeat or proggi track

orginality: 6

tough question because i cant see anything new in the set
but i wont give ya a 2 because u did prolly work hard on it but more than another ASOT clone aint it sorry!!! u said u dont listen to ASOT so i wont lwoer ur score here because of the ASOT traxx so its a 6!!!

I'm a bit confused about this comment.

So far i've accepted all the comments, and agreed on most. Especially the mixing scores. It's not my best but I ran out of time to re-record it. I'll just do better next time.

But exactly whay does "ASOT clone" mean?

I mean in the judging rules of blackhole was under tracklist a point

"does he only play Armin traxx"

and this is unfortunately in 80% of the set´s here and this lowers the score
thats why i call it ASOT clone. its just like i would listen on a thursday to armin van buuren, where is your style m8? try to be not another armin plz we got allready enough out there
but no worry´s all who play too much armin traxx got lower score

but its sure a matter of taste because i guess im the only one here who is really judging this point very hard

Did you ever consider that this is the style I have always liked, and any similarity to AVB is purely coincidental?

I could understand if I had practically replicated one of his sets track for track, but getting a lower score just because I happen to like the same style just doesn't sit right with me.

I'm sure you could find a set by a pro DJ that compares to every set entered in this comp.

The "Only plays AVB style tracks" line in the rules was just an example, and sholuldn't be taken literally.

I totally respect and appreciate all the feedback I have recieved from this comp but your feedback seems more based on personal taste.

I had no illusions of getting very high scores but I did want to be judged fairly.

You would expect the same.

and its sure a matter of taste some like this some like that!! but believe me i try to judge independent of my personal taste!!!and im sure it will get some new rules at the next contest, maybe 5 or 10 fix judges dunno!!!

and i think too many people just copy the style of a other DJ instead of finding their own and this is very sad!

i really like Armin listen to ASOT each week but its just a pain if u only see recent ASOT traxx in the mixes, innovation is the point on getting a high score or winning

i mean other members got higher score because its their own style and not just a copy of Armin so maybe for the next contest as tip mix older with newer stuff not only ASOT if u really want to be like armin its your choice and sure u will have fans but your only Armin Nr. 1000 then and is it this what u want???

I'm not about to go and rate your set bad just because you did to mine. That's not the point of my comments.

I don't even listen to ASOT. I bought these records because I liked them when I listened to them in the record store.

This is why i'm saying i'm not copying anyone.
I'm not posting for an arguement. Imagine someone told you that you were a copycat when you'd put alot of time into choosing tracks that reflect the music you like.

And I can take critisism. One of the main reason I entered was to get useful feedback to improve. I even took your feedback on board until you started on the ASOT stuff.

Funnily enough though, reading through your thread for your mix you yourself question practically all the feedback you got.

Nice range of tracks, nothing special you played it safe.

Too much rushed mixing and some misbeatmatched parts. Try to work more with your equaliser.

Build-up structure: 6

First part was really good but halfway you seemed to be lost. Try to build it up more the next time.

Just a standard set, nice to listen to nut nothing really special.

you should wait untill a a good moment the track plays only "bum-bum-bum-bum" to start with crossover, u just put the fader to the other track when the track going to end, beatmatching was still ok

starting with locust and time, then trance and then hardtrance, ok buildup, but the set should explode in the middle and then calm down a bit

Originality: 7 nothing special what should i say, every dj playing them, initiate was just cool
