whats everyones opinion on rafa's revolution

imo its going to take a big win 2nite to save his job, and even at that he needs to buck his ideas up in the premiership.

well he won tonight very late into the game and I think they just got a lucky break to win that game. Liverpool is squandering almost every chance to progress and get some confidence. Maybe this win will help them in the right direction but I don't think they have it to get the 4th spot in the league. Europe is all they have left and I actually think they have a chance to make it to the finals with their history, even with their mediocre form in the league. But Rafa next season... I doubt it.

have to agree there - he seems to know the european teams inside out, but needs to transfer that to premiership as well

I think we should stick with Rafa - and I have a feeling that the only reasons he won't be in charge come August 08 is if he decides to walk out himself or the club changes ownership. The current owners simply do not have the funds to run a Premiership club (hence them going back on their word and putting their current loan against the club with minimal personal guarantees from themselves), so why would they pay Rafa £6m to sever his contract, then pay a similar fee to bring a new manager then be expected to fund any new managers transfer targets?!

Rafa has proven credentials as a manager, granted this season has not been the best but don't forget he is working without an assistant manager (not his choice). He has built a squad that is far superior to that of Houlliers, and he has also overhauled the youth set up signing a number of talented youngsters that could be crucial to the club whilst the new stadium is being built (in a similar way to the youngsters that came through at Arsenal whilst the Emirates was built).

As for his record in the transfer market, it ihas generally been good and to be fair to him he has soon got rid of any players that haven't cut the mustard. You only have to look at the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd's spending over the last 3/4 years, they have been spending 15-20m on squad players, LFC simply haven't had that money to spend regardless of what the papers say! (in that time LFC have only spent 10m+ on two players, Babel & Torres). If Rafa is allowed to spend in the same bracket then maybe we will finally see us competing both at home as well as Europe! smile.gif

dont get me wrong - i hope he is given the chance myself - these things take time, and lets not forget alex ferguson didnt get of to a gr8 start right away at man u - as you say rafa has a good youth set up, and the future looks bright

in my opinion 2 or 3 years down the line is the time when liverpool can really fight for the premiership, and hopefully rafa will still be the man

I think he's a good manager making the best of a bad situation, but in fairness, for most of the season, with the exceptions of Carragher, Gerrard and Torres, Liverpool have looked like a pub team.
