With all this talk of improving the site and trying to get more members, I thought it would be a good idea to promote the review section. I don't think we necessarily need to improve it or have more reviewers, I can cope with the number of releases I get through if I put my mind to it. I think as this is one of the more generally 'useful' areas of the forum this could be used more effectively to get people's attention. The topics created in this area tend to get a large number of views, so we should maybe use this as a starting point to lure people in.
Ideas that spring to mind:
- Any new reviews should be promoted on the UKTA newsletter (assuming this is still being sent regularly)
- Direct links could be added to the front page for new reviews (I assume this can be automatically updated to show the last 3 for example?)
- Alternatively, I remember we used to have a sticky topic where details of new reviews were posted. Did this ever work? If so shoudl we start it again?
Crikey, this is hard. That's all I can think of right now, what are everyone's thoughts (seeing as I'm biased)?
Almost forgot, I think "CD/Vinyl Reviews" should be renamed to "Single/Album Reviews".
Haven't got a problem with renaming etc.
I am trying to put together a php front end page for the main website, but this is a pretty complicated thing, atleast for me it is. So I would more likely have to just update the front page manually each week, which isn't to much of a problem. Can put top 3 reviews and top 3 downloads, top 3 topics, etc.
Any ideas are welcome.
