i was talking with thijsje last night on msn and the Members Awards came into discussion , so I have a question for you all:

This place is dead more than it has ever been. Even if you do run awards very few people will vote, and the whole honour of winning one will be significantly lessened.

I think we should concentrate on reviving the place in general rather than running awards. When the forum becomes more active, then run the awards.

Some topics on the forum are getting so stupid, there is no thought being put in to discussion anymore, and that makes me very sad indeed.

It is becoming more and more frustrating posting information or doing live tracklists for up to 6 hours on a Thursday when there is no one here to enjoy it with. At times I have to motivate myself just to sit through it.

Here here, Damn right mate. Sit and post as much sets and info as you can and you get 5-7 replies with Double/tripple the amount of views!! Ok that's from a up-loaders point of view(MY RANT OVER!!) but sure it equatate's to the same thing.

What do you suggest? Cause Simply, the forum is dead as you said..........

I'm starting to get a littled baffled on what else can be done to get people posting on here it seems every new good idea just doesn't seem to take off

I thought the classic area was a great idea as i don't know any other site which has one but nobody replies to posts so i'm not going to waste anytime uploading if noone wants them

The showcase downloads are is the same a unique area which gets a few leachers and perhaps one or two replies is it worth the time and effort, i agree with sy as it takes time and effort to upload and create each set.

So in response the the member awards again its another good fun idea but it will only run between active members (is their enough?) or will it end up like the UKTA track of the year?

The forum is very quiet, and I am out of ideas on how to push it really. Any suggestions are welcome.

In the member trance livet set area , can we start putting links for sets even if its not uploaded by my self fly? Maybe this will attract more people to the site? ...... Its the only thing i can think of.............

More Live sets = More Members

2nd point... i'll try to put some effort in link exchanging.
i think we need to get linked to more known sites from important producers, clubs and party organisations so people see our name/banner more often and more ppl come to us.

more livesets = more leechters, but not more active users

maybe, people are getting older...

i work, see friends, date girls etc... those things became more important instead of '' wasting '' time on internet.

i don't say ukta is a waste of time (because it isn't) i just say that most people are getting older and have more important stuff to do in their life...

i like to listen to trance... but way less then before, since all my gf's are french, i learn new music styles (they all dislike trance) so i rarely go to the music section...

i just got used to go to general discussion and that's also the first thing i check when i'm on ukta. kinda weird no?? going to a trance forum to chat with forum buddies but not about music...

i don't consider myself active even though i almost reply every day...


on the other hand.... i think you can improve this site when you have that section again where you can download mp3... like you used to do... where you needed to have 100 replies minimum to enter the topic.. more people will visit ukta... more people will visit the review section... more people will mess around in general discussion... and yes you will have more leechers as well...

Yeh good point mate their has been loads of websites established in the last few years which ultimatly take people away from here....the AH.FM forum and URTrancezone are two in particually which are growing.

The thing is though, what do those forums have that we don't? What does tranceaddict have that we don't? Personally we have a lot more to offer than them. The problem is its a downward spiral. Less people post there is less to post to and so on, and visa versa. So its hard to develop the forums if nobody new gets involved in posting. But nobody new gets involved because there isn't much to post about.

Also a lot of forums these days only seem to let you see anything when you register. How does anyone know trancetraffic is any good coz you can't see anything. Its like buying a car in a lucky dip.

The more people post topics, the more people will respond.

Think sensible topics people! Ones that will actually make you sit up and think, hey that is a nice thought, here is my thoughts on it whether we agree or not.

The great thing this forum has is that there are no egos regardless of how long you have been registered or how many posts you have. Add to that you do not have the moronic trolls you have on TA for example who fire personal insults at every single word you say.

So, in summary, post interesting stuff, be informative, and most of all, give your honest opinion on things!

this forum is more to talk and make fun, even as moderator (maybe we go a little bit too far sometimes )
but exactly as you say.... there's not an atmosphere of noobs and experts

And thats exactly what helped the forum grow in the first place, places like this grow from word of mouth, so we create an atmosphere for people to enjoy and hope members get others to join also. Well the newsletters seem to be working anyways.
