Without trying to be biased, the only two teams that look like taking it are the boks and NZ.

I think the boks looked really strong (aswell as England being completely s**te) out of the games i've watched so far i've got to agree NZ vs SA looks a likely final. Australia beat Wales confortably but they didn't show the same fluency that SA did against England
I guess all can change though

Yeah, one bad game is all it takes.
NZ looked invincible in 2003 but cocked it up in the semi's.

Now to the business end of the tournament.
The boks seem to have a pretty easy path with only Fiji and either Scotland or Wales in the semi's.
The other group is gonna be interesting.
Australia vs France.
NZ vs England.
Australia and NZ will probably advance.
Nick
Oct 1 2007, 07:22 PM
Its Australia vs England mate but your right the Aussies should still advance
Genkins sacked as Wales coach following defeat to Fiji
Argentina worth a bet as outsiders. looked v impressive against the irish.

Yeah the England - France game was a Belter ! The last 15 - 20 mins when they were 5 points down was heart wrenching stuff... good ol little jason robertson impressed me again with his swift little moves

I reckon we could give the boks a run for thier money this time !!!!

well put indeed. was bloody awesome the boks winning the final again. the match wasnt as good as the 95 final but the end result was just as good

well done bokke!!

edit: although i am devastated to hear about the affrimative action policy that is been implemented now. i cant believe the govenment actually has imposed it aswell. load of crap if you ask me. im no racist, but if a player deserves to be in the team then he should be there. if i was players like francios steyn, ruan peinaar, juan smith, bismark du plessis etc, i would be looking to either go to england or australia. if they came to australia i reckon they would be offered a spot in the team. but hey thats just my opinion

Definately, the team should be based on merit ONLY.
But from what it seems like at the moment, the guys that have been asking for more quotas etc. seem to be backing down due to the massive public support for Jake and his boys. There's even some in government who are now saying that the team shouldn't be discarded but just built upon.
Most of the younger players like the ones you mentioned will probably form the nucleus for future teams.
From what i can see over here, i don't actually think much will change... especially as there's a lot of people pushing Jake White to stay on as coach.
Domoo
Oct 23 2007, 07:43 AM
well that doesnt sound too bad. i hope it doesnt head the way i think it will, it will just be a complete disaster. jake defiently has to stay on as coach or i think that too will spell the end for south african rugby. btw when is the currie cup final?
recon6
Oct 24 2007, 06:55 AM
Yeah, we now even have the president and the sponsors saying that Jake and the team have to stay.
Currie Cup final this weekend.
The teams are still unsure as to whether they'll call their Bok players.

Oct 24 2007, 08:08 AM
would be stupid if they do recall their players. not only would the bok players be tired, but what about all the players who have played the whole tournament, and then dropped for the final. i would be pissed. i heard yesterday that Jake hasnt renewed his contract, and theres rumors floating around that Australia is looking to poach him (and maybe Eddie Jones)
