Read about it on the BBC website today - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6914775.stm

Basically, you sign up to this website, pay your £35 and then you own a part of whatever team they eventually buy and have a say in picking the team and everything!

I can't decide if it's a good idea or not really, but if it works, and they do take over a club (apparently they're in talks with 4 at the moment, and the club most members are voting for is Leeds) perhaps it'll pave the way for true fotty democracy! Or maybe it won't.

Either way, it's an interesting idea...

Hey Laz, yeah I heard about this today and was discussing it at work... it is an interesting idea, however I think leeds are a little out of thier reach ?... for a starters it would take a hell of a lot of £35`s to reach the 30million quid debts that leeds have tongue.gif...

It would be a wicked idea though and I did consider putting in 35 quid... just for the hell of it !!

And what happens if they dont buy a club? If they don't and refund you your 35 quid, the interest they make of that alone would make the whole thing worthwhile, sounds look a great idea for the creator, they get to buy a club, and have shareholders already setup. And do you really think they will let say 500 people have a say in team selection, etc? That just wouldn't work. The only say you would get is as a shareholder. So you could ask to be elected onto the board, then you may have a say, but you would need to be elected by the other shareholders. But it could be good for some people i guess. Depends if you get one share or a couple of hundred out of it.

It just sounds to me like they could just make a set amount and then close the business. Read the small print biggrin.gif

If they have 50,000 members they already have nearly 2 million in the bank ohno-smiley02.gif

After reading their FAQ nothing is said about what happens to your money if the website folds. And once you have invested that money apparently if the club is sold any profit would go to charity??? But your a shareholder and you dont get a dividend. Just seems pointless really. You dont get anything out of it apart from a few votes.
