I'm preparing a presentation about club scene in Britain and need some info. Could you please tell which clubs or events are said to be the best and share your other opinions?

Being bias which most will be to an extent I guess tongue.gif , I'd say The Arches in Glasgow is one of the best in Britain, certainly in Scotland. Good lineups for both Inside Out and Colours nights, really up for it crowd and brilliant atmosphere. Pretty sure a few others can testify to that?!

In England I liked both Gods and Crasher - not quite what I expected in terms of size but then again I didn't know quite what to expect (if that makes sense?!). Good atmosphere in both and similar layouts.

In Northern Ireland Lush is a top club imo, similar to those I've mentioned - great atmosphere and good layout biggrin.gif

sorry Scotties, but the best clubs are easily in London!
The End - Absolutely amazing atmosphere and sick minimal tech stuff that i listen to
Fabric - Well the subwoofer is in the floor of the dancefloor in that club so no need for that big an explanation ^^

Gatecrasher at The Republic (Sheffield) is still great but nothing like as good as it was 8 years ago. These days I seem to prefer Passion at the Emporium in Coalville. To be fair though, I'm more into the smaller nights these days because they feel more intimate and the atmosphere is better because its full of enthusiasts smile.gif

yeah ive made a few visits to the crasher in sheffield, it's a bit too glamorous for me......i don't know if that makes sense to u guys tongue.gif

Yeah I know what you mean... crasher just seems way tooo clean smile.gif

AIR in Bham ( gods kitchen nights ) is a nice small venue, good for me cos only 20 minutes drive away tongue.gif can always get nice n close to your fav dj if your the stalker kind smile.gif

Passion in Coalville is good.
Turnmills London

The end and Fabric are both excelent clubs too. Cant comment on the scottish ones, Never been !

Lol it's funny you've said that, because the Republic used to be a proper dump back in Crasher's heyday. I personally don't like it as much since they did the first refurb back in 2001/2 or so, but in the glory days it had a kind of industrial feel to it biggrin.gif

Venue-wise though I'd say the best in England that I've been to would be Talltrees up in Yarm, where they hold Goodgreef. It's as if they thought to themselves, "Well, we're gonna build us a nightclub, so we may as well do it with some style."

The Republic today and its image attracts the wrong clubbing crowd imo more people are there because of its reputation, name and to be 'seen' there.

Passion has never had that problem being in Coalville and pretty much a dump but you always get the better night there as most of the crowd have made and effort to get there as it is rather out of the way which makes a better atmosphere as you know a majority have gone just for the music and DJ's whereas at Gatecrasher you get people who are there because its a fashionable club to go to....

People may disagree but thats my take on it from my recent visits to Gatecrasher

well id say turnmills is good ....especially on the gallery nites on a friday they hav good resident trance djs like sander van doorn & the viceroy and get djs like sean tyas (my fav dj at the mo) above n beyond (they've done there various anjunabeats albums launches there) marco v n so on there alot ...n i think the venue itself is wkd proper trance vibe smile.gif
blackened_sky
ancient topic, but since my opinion has changed ^^

'The End' without a doubt. the crowd is very responsive and friendly, u can chat to anyone in there biggrin.gif

The Arches for me is the best atmosphere I have witnessed. Especially when the crown chant " Here we, here we, here we f****g go!!!"

Never been to the Gallery @ Turnmills yet but I'm going on the 7th of December for the Anjuna x mas party so that should be amazing!

Turnmills Gallery (London) is the best one !!! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
Rick Valentine
Turnmills has an awfull layout
Godskitchen @ Air isnt much better either but this club has best nights on !!!!
Passion for me has the best layout great club
Gatecrasher based in Notts atm dn not been to that one yet last one i went to is the one in Sheffield befor it burnt down.
adaglyn
been to a few of these clubs and agree that tunmills is NOT a clubber freindly place with regards to the venue, its too haphazard but puts on good nights (gallery and my mates run one of the back rooms (prehab)).

went to a gatecrasher a few years back and was dissapointed, there just was no magic there for me.

The end is a sick little club with many good nights to be had smile.gif there is the egg club in kings x nice intimate and clubber freindly venue.

I did really like Air though nice clean soundsystem and good vibe in there but a little too exposed for me not enough nooks and crannys to get lost in.

My fav though will probably be heaven in london though, so many good nights there ie, bedrock, peach, wildchild, and with three reasonably sized rooms places to hide freindly staff/punters.

an idea though instead of the best in the uk how about best in each country? each country has a different vibe as it were.

As in one of the best clubs in wales is Escape I have not been there yet but have been told its good smile.gif

Kool Thread..I've been to most the clubs mentioned here..Air,Passion, Gatecrasher in leeds.

Air is the one I've been to the most because its the closest, I want to make more effort to go to passion.

I would love to meet some people who have money and are up for weekend breaks in the european cities to go to bigger and better trance nights there..they are mad about trance/dance in holland/germany/berlin for example.
djequili
has to be the Arches in Glasgow for me - been to clubs all over the world, the only ones i like better are dc10.

Great atmosphere, even better lighting and the arches themselves provide a classic backdrop for any edm

im from liverpool way, gota say Nation is probably one of the best for me, plays host to cream events, situated with 3 different rooms, main room, courtyard and the annexe, in terms of glamorous this club is the exact opposite, its dark, sweaty loud as f**k, and the atmosphere is electric - ive been to some great events there, and the people of liverpool are second to none smile.gif
glenn.b
The best clubs are here in belfast! Well they used to be way bake when i was still clubbin wink.gif
loulou
Oh this one is easy, for me it HAS to be Passion, I've had some GREAT nights out there! other than that I'd say Heaven but that was agggeees ago!
