People moan when nobody is posting, then moan when people are. Any spam we are seeing is being deleted, but we need to encourage users to post, yes that maybe in the form of spam from some to gain access to download sections, but on the other side I have seen informative posts from users I haven't seen before.

Unfortunately we have a forum where a hand ful of people make up the majority of posts, something that we are making every effort to change to allow our members a better forum to enjoy their time on.

Please report any spam via the report function below every post. A moderator will then deal with it ASAP.

people will talk less if they're restricted to conversation. not saying make it a free for all because everything will go bezerk.
fair play really stupid posts and topics should be crumpled up and thrown in the rubbish bin, but on the other hand, we need to
lighten up a bit smile.gif

or maybe i'm the only one that appreciates some of the funny random comments made here and there tongue.gif

We aren't removing any justified spam, heh. Its just the peoplewho sign up and then post 10 messages within a minute of signing up, saying nice, and cool, or as yesterday just counting. biggrin.gif

Well I find it remarkable that this is surprising to anyone. I just joined the forum 5 minutes ago, because I wanted to download some dj sets. Then I learned that I have to make 10 posts to gain access to the downloads. Its entirely natural that the first thing that comes into my head is spam.

The problem is that I really have nothing to say other than this post. There isn't a hope in hell that I will find 9 other genuinely interesting things to say about listening to trance music other than rehashed ways of saying "I like trance" or "isn't this mix excellent".

Forcing people to write messages guarantees that the quality of posting goes down the tube. People are either interested in forum'ing about trance music or they're not.

Given that what I am interested in is downloading some music, I am happy to do any of the following:

1) Pay for it
2) Hypothetical: say I was given credits to download 2 or 3 files when I first joined. This lets me get up and running immediately and sample some of the music that the site has to offer. I am not faced with the 10 post obstacle I am faced with now. Once those 2 or 3 credits are expired, then I must get more by either a) posting to the forum cool.gif paying/donating c) uploading files d) other stuff that I cannot think about. This brings me gently and more willingly into the site, and might, psychologically speaking, ensure continued activity because I can grow into it.

Anyway, thats post number 1. Its a genuine sentiment. Now I have to make up a ton of garbage just to get my other 9 posts done. Hmm, nice weather we're having....

I completely understand your point. But we are trying to build a community here. So we want people to get involved. If they just want to download there are plenty of other sites to use. However if you want something you have to put a little effort in to get it. I cant justify giving away something for nothing when so many people invest so much time to make this place what it is.

Hi Fly, this might be conpletely out of order and if it is you can delete me :-) But what other sites are good for such downloads?

Thanks very much,
Mike.

Well after the spamfest of the last few weeks members can now access all download sections apart from the exclusive UKTA downloads section. However being a loyal member will reward you with many great things biggrin.gif

Oh, nice one.

One other thought, if all downloads were provided as torrents you could mandate a certain share ratio, thereby ensuring people support the community and also keeping the quality of forum posts up.

Would be up to the members to post them as torrents. Not gonna waste my time and bandwidth doing that wink.gif
