There does certainly seem to be a renewed hunger about United this season, if nothing else. I'd say they've as good a chance as anybody, and obviously I'd love a British team to win it regardless

Overall though, I wouldn't say I found the competition half as exciting as the League One promotion battle...

No m8...next Tuesday at 20:45 in Glasgow.
Our chances of a good result are slim, I admit, as Milan have won the cup an amazing six times and are a trully formidable outfit. We have never actually won an away match in the Champions league, but our home record is an awesome 9 times in 12 matches, which is a champions league record in it's self, so as said, if we secure a good lead at Celtic park then we might have a small chance.

hehe yeah an unfortunate result for us, we looked like the winning team but that didn't cut it (again). like with
every arsenal game where things didn't run our way, we just lacked urgency and composure in the second half,
cannot believe the kind of possession we were giving away, not quite sure what Wenger told the team in the break

didnt go very well for Arsenal but Man Utd won 1-0 away and got that important away goal. Bloody disgrace the organisation by Lille though, I hope Uefa punishes them for the stadium fiasco and they way their players reacted after the goal. Celtic got a draw against AC Milan as well but I'm not sure how they'll fare away from home in the 2nd leg
results:
Celtic 0 - 0 AC Milan
Lille 0 - 1 Man Utd
PSV 1 - 0 Arsenal

I think Arsenal can beat PSV at home and the oter 3 English clubs are in strong positions with Chelsea having an away goal and they should beat Porto, I cant see Barca or Lille winning away specially Barc having to score 2 i just cant see it at Anfield.
How great would that be.....all 4 English Clubs in the Quarter finals.
Imagine if they avoided eachother aswell...... we could end up with all English semi finals

I reckon it will be hard for Arsenal because PSV will probably follow the same lines as many premiership clubs who have gone to Arsenal this season which is stick 10 men behind the ball just like Blackburn did in the Cup.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U should all go through now, great result for Liverpool in Barca.
Celtic will find it tough but it will be great if they can get through aswell

i don't know, 1 goal? im not saying that the possibility of us getting knocked out is slim, because it all depends on the day. but gallas
was playing out of position (don't know why flamini didn't cover the position) and hleb was recovering from being sick. our defence was lacking
and because hleb was still illish, we were missing out on a key play maker.
no point talking about the 'what if's ' because whats the point in being speculative with history, but by next time hopefully the team will return to a norm,
and also playing at home may help.
@ bubby - the only time we ever play crap is solely down to the players not being able to communicate or work on the same wave length, nothing to do
with Arsene's tactics, but you're biased so you probably won't agree.
i knew before writing this that you probably wouldn't agree anyway, but there's my 2 cents.
but i'll defend Arsene by saying this, who was raped 6-3? oh wait that can't be down to tactics whatsoever

oh AND that wasn't our first team!

i'm a Manchester United Football Club follower so was chuffed that they pulled it off in Lille. Not the ideal way to do it, but anyway that's the nature of the Beautiful Game. Barca disappointed me and i hope they can bounce back against the Reds in the 2nd leg.
I think Olympique Lyon are an amazing team of footballers, they have one or two star players but their overall organisation as a team is immense. I'd be chuffed if they could win the overall event.
Don't see MUFC taking it. We have a small squad and Larsson goes back to Sweden in a weeks time which cuts down our striker-resources as well. Who knows, with the luck of the draw we might pull it off, but i'm not convinced just yet.

"Having examined the referee's report, the television evidence at hand as well as the laws of the game, the Uefa decided to reject the protest, as there was no proof of a technical error.
"As a result, the body declared that the goal was perfectly valid.
"Furthermore, the control and disciplinary body decided to instigate proceedings against Lille for the improper behaviour of their players immediately after the goal. "

champions league is tough to predict who might be the champions of europe. as back in season 2004-2005, liverpool came back from 3-0 to win the title from AC milan.. but this year champions league is quite open to all clubs. Barcelona not performing well, Madrid is not consistent. Milan without their Ace striker this season. So which ever club performs well in the knock out stage n perform consistently, stands a chance. i still hope for man utd to win.

didn't watch the games but heard that Liverpool completely outplayed Barcelona and were unlucky to lose on the night. Still, they win on aggregate so seems justice was done. As for Chelsea, well same old story. They put in an average performance and still somehow manage to win. That's 2 of the 5 British clubs through to the quarter-finals so far.

Should United make it to the quarter finals, the one team I would want to avoid is Valencia. They are without doubt the form team in Spain, and like Chelsea they can grind out results when they are not playing well. At this stage I would have them as favourites.
