I think education is the most important thing in civilisation.
If you look at any develop country education is the key to driving the Economy. Without skilled worker you can't grow.
People need the basics, being able to read and write to do every part of a job. And also expressing yourself is also impossible without a good education.
I know a lot of people think education isn't key to success, with people a lot of billionaires who flunked school. But thats because they have drive, imagination and ambition. If you have that you will always do well. However even they needed a basic education, otherwise they would have been stuck at the first hurdle.
If i had known what i do now when i was in school I would have worked harder. Qualifications get you over the first step when you get a job. I am incharge of employing people, and I always look at grades. It tells you how hard they can work. Good grades usually mean hard worker, and someone who i can progress and develop.
However on the other side I also like people who are not so well qualified, who will probably stay with me a lot longer as the job will always be challenging for them, and it is easier to develop them, as they have no prior experience to get bad habitts from.
But as you can tell, my spelling isn't my strong point. But I know enough to get through life.
If it wasn't for my mum and dad putting me into the best schools they could find I have no idea how I would have turned out. I have always been pushed to do well, to speak up for myself and to go for what i want. And those things remain key in my life.
To anyone who is currently in full time education. Please get your head down and work. Because trust me 5 years of hard work at school saves 10 years when it comes to getting a job.
Very well put mate..i totally agree with you. Looking back i wished i worked harder in school but i was never the studying type, loved messing around too much.....call it peer pressure! But luckly enough i caught a break and am working for a bank, working my way up from the bottom to nearly the top and i earn a good living so im happy but i guess if i had a degree or qualifications then i would have jumped all tha working up but im not bitter as it has helped me develop my self.
