if they are willing to pay it i dont see its greedy
to be honest he should have come back to the premiership and played well for 2 more years, before sailing off to the usa to help try and get football bigger over there
hes cut his top class career short with this. sad. but i guess he thinks hes doing something good over there, and to be fair i think he will

I think it is a good move for him. Obviously the money speaks for itself, but I think he wants to go there to leave a legacy in the US for footballing reasons. He has spoken about his desire to expand his football academies worldwide, can you imagine the uptake by kids to these academies based on the attention Beckham will receive playing in the MLS?
Soccer is obviously behind the major sports there (NFL, NBA etc.) but in high schools it is the most popular sport. It is when the kids go to college and all they have are the NCAA Football and Basketball leagues etc. So if there is an outlet for the colleges to develop the talent, imagine how big a force the US could be in international terms.
I personally hope Beckham does really well. Yes he gets a lot of attention, and a lot of it is brought on to himself (and by his wife), but he comes across as a real genuine down to aarth nice guy.
He will always be one of my favourite players who ever played for Man Utd.

yeah hes a nice bloke, but this move is too early. hes still a top top player and it seems sad to move over there at this moment. im all for him going over at some point, but it should be in a year or two
also im not too keen on the usa getting any better at football! haha. they already dominate so many sports im quite happy they are far from the best at my favourite sport

Going over to America didn't work for anyone, just look at george best.
But to be fair to him. I would do the same. Real Madrid act like Beckham has done something wrong. He is a player who can win a game for you with his set pieces. He should still be in the England Team if you ask me.
Posh abd Becks have always wanted to crack America, here is their chance. At least they have their heads screwed on. Football is a business these days. Yes you have to have the desire to win, and play well, but it is a short career, and everyone has to look after number 1.

Capello's now saying that Beckham won't play again for Real Madrid this season. That's a bit nasty.

You can kind of understand why he won't play him. If his heart isn't in it, he won't play well. And I can't see his heart being in it to play for Real, especially after how they have treated him.

He's a top professional tho, plus I'd fully expect Becks to want to show everyone he still has it. Especially in the last part of his Real career. This shows 1 of the reasons he left then, Capello obviously doesn't like him, in the same vein as Fergie towards the end of his Man U career I bet!!
Good luck to him, we would all take the same deal

I'll disagree with some people here.
I don't think that Beckham's transfer to the MLS will bring the football (soccer)in the US close to the same level as the NFL or NASCAR

. In the country there people are so stuck on their damn games (american football, basketball)and there you are lucky to see football (soccer) once a month on 60 TV channels, moving of Beckham to MLS won't change much. There was a Christo Stoechkov before.
I just wondering, who Beckham will play here (in MLS) with? There are may be only handful of players of the same level playing in MLS.
However,if he moves here for the money only....I can undersand that. There is plenty of commercial market here for him to make money on commercials of Gillette, Kodak, etc.
P.S.: It's just my opinion

Is true that Cappello is not a good coach (see the recent scandal (Juve, Milan, Fiorentina) and the quarrel with Alex del Piero), but David is no more the player he used to be.
Now he is more careful with his image and he neglects the game. There are in the world many many players better than him at football but at selling one's image he rulzzzz.
Quite frankly I dont't know which one of the biggest european football clubs would have brought him. Maybe just M.U. Now he is just an expired player that had talent but unfortunatly he didn't managed to take advantage of.

i think all the crap that goes along with beckham is whats brought him down
i think its wrong to think he doesnt work as hard as he should. if anything he works as hard as anyone, but with limited talent. worlds best crosser of a ball. great free kick expert, but isnt blessed with skill in every area
he simply gets assumed to have other intrests get in the way of his career, just because he's so desired by others for off field stuff. doesnt mean he lets it get in his way and i dont think it does. just everyone thinks it does so any bad form will be blamed on that
guess thats the downs that go along with the ups of being the worlds best paid footballer without being the worlds best footballer - ever.
He could of been great, legend but sadly he wont be remembered for his footballing abilites..........
Hes def past it and its a shame really.........

The whole Beckham situation reminds me of Robbie Fowler. Fowler pretty much loved Liverpool and could never play for another club

The only reason he left was because of that asshole Houllier

Unfortunately his form dropped as well. People talk about the impact Rooney had but Fowlers was much bigger. He was a natural finisher which Rooney isnt

Beckham's situation is basically the same, he was forced to leave coz of a fallout with Fergie. He loves Utd dearly and since he left he hasnt been the same player

David Beckham in his prime was simply outstanding, ive never seen anybody cross a ball like he does. Pinpoint accuracy, definitely the greatest crosser in the history of the game

Cole & York werent that good but Beckham made them that good coz of his crosses. He has lost pace now but his ability to cross is still there. I would actually love to see him play right back now
No one messes with King Fegie!!

Anything that we can get here in the US to give football more publicity would be great. The youth here, and all of us ethnic types

, are really playing a lot of football and going to whatever games we can find. Real Salt Lake, the new Utah MLS team, has been fighting for a stadium since they started. The County and State legislatures have blocked evey attempt to build something for them, yet if the basketball/baseball/hockey mogul wants to crap in a box and sell it to them for a million dollars, they'll swarm all over it.
He came to Utah when Real Madrid played against Real Salt Lake, nice game I might add, and they packed the University field to the rafters. Who did everyone want to see? Beckham, of course (I wanted to see Ruud myself

)

He left the game at the highest level 'cause he can make more money selling his image, we cant blame him for that... he was bearing a lot of criticism from the media and worldwide fans... its also a neat move to promote his academies...

nah i wouldn't go as far as saying that he doesn't love football anymore. to be honest, he was chewed up and spat out by real madrid.
but hehe, i saw a documentary about him recently, he's been getting involved in Disney quite a bit. to be honest, i think he definitely
will become some sort of an actor.
