What do you guys reckon on having a members chart section where senior members/review team members or perhaps a new group of chart members post their top 10 chart every month. It will point others in the right direction as far as good music is concerned. Basically those who regularly research and buy music can help out those who don't. The charts would obviously have to be compiled by credible board members

Yeh but these wont be charts compiled by every single member. A group of members should be chosen, based on their seniority, knowledge of the scene and the credibility of their music taste
Fly
Nov 27 2006, 05:55 PM
We could create a new sub forum where only senior, review team and mods could post new threads, but they could be read by all and replied to by all. How does that sound?
blackened_sky
Nov 27 2006, 06:02 PM
well.........then it'd be filled with an insane amount of charts.........
trance_addict2004
Nov 27 2006, 06:05 PM
that sounds good, everyones going to have to be able to read it and feedback is always a good thing. But there should be a small group of members responsible for compiling the charts, because as Dan says, there would be way too many if we let all senior members post.
Fly
Nov 27 2006, 06:27 PM
Would be even better if the charts linked to the uktrancealliance download store, so people could then preview/download the tracks.
And i could post them in the weekly/monthly emails.

I think it's a great idea!!

Excellent idea, im all for it
When we select the members who post their Top 10 we must choose members with different styles
Just an example:
Blackened Sky is more into his techy influenced stuff so his chart maybe a Top10 TechTrance
Impact is more into his progressive stuff so maybe he does a Top10 Progressive chart.
Just an idea

Gosh isn't everyone going to be in for a shock when they see The Diary of Jane and Vivid Intent in my chart next month.
Really need to shake off the idea people have of me only liking progressive. My box is biiiig people!!

It was just an idea, i wasnt necessarily saying u only listen to progressive. I was just trying to have each member have a different style chart.

Well....
What maybe is a nice idea:
A UKTA Top 10 of 2007
Yes 2007

People will nominate tracks that are released in every month
So from January - December
And then the 10 most nominated tracks will apear in a poll every month
And the winner of the polls will join a final poll in January 2008 and then the people can vote for the Top track of 2007

Any thoughts

I think what he means is that most of us buy from Beatport & Audiojelly.

yes of course, the tracks all have to be available on trackitdown, beatport, audiojelly, djdownload or another decent online digital mp3 store. The whole point is that these charts are compiled by members who buy recently released tracks regularly and can therefore formulate a proper opinion on new tunes, therewith passing their knowledge onto other members

Each chart shouldn't be based solely on one sub-genre. It should simply contain the top tracks from any sub-genre of EDM, according to the person compiling it

Yep that's what I mean Bubmeister, and a lot of tracks I would chart myself for example, are only available on specific webshops and not on all ones
Guess the charters should include the label and store they bought the tracks... and ofcourse if it's available in the UKTA shop, a link to that place!

my taste covers a wide range of house as well as trance so I could do a chart, although I don't want to nominate myself, I'll leave it up to you guys to decide.
Tim, Dan, Lagrom and Impact are good choices in my opinion Piotr, Robert would also make a good charter. I'll step in with one or two guest charts per year

p.s. remember, these charts are to be compiled once a month and must be done so with great attention and care. When you list your top 10 tunes of the month, make sure you go over them so that you're confident they're the ones you want. We want some quality control here!

no-one here is forgetting about trance trust me. If a good trance track comes out, I will acknowledge it by all means. There aren't as many good trance tracks being released week in week out like years ago but trance is still very much alive and I'm sure there'll be a resurgance soon. You have to acknowledge some other edm genres at the moment because there is so much excellent stuff out there.
