great result for celtic tonight, but it didnt come without a bunch of fortune
the united players wasted a host of chances to score prior to celtics stunning free kick winner (which was never a free kick), and celtic for the most part were never in the game other than the scoreline
defo a penalty at the end, but again a wasted chance, and i believe a bad decision to let saha take it the way he was playing up front
well done celtic. nice to see them make it to the next stage and do it with a little bit of comfort for a change. uited will now sweat on their next game to earn at least a draw

Excellent for Celtic, stunning free kick from Nakamura damn that ball curled

The fact that the Celtic fans started singing "Youll never walk alone" was just the icing on the cake for me

Cmon Benfica, lets kick Utd out the competition

Lucky bar stewards to say the least!
Score from a free-kick that was never a free-kick and then Saha misses a guilt edge opportunity AND a penalty - very lucky indeed!
Pressure is on Man U now thats for sure!!

haha....I take it you lads are either, huns, jambo's or hibees....lol. How can you say Celtic were lucky? They fought hard till the end without conceding any goals and defended really well. lee naylor getting man of the match, i thought he was excellent, thought mcmanus also deserves enormous credit for his taming of saha who didn't have a sniff. I would probably have to agree that it wasn't a free kick, but the last Man U - Celtic game...It was never a penalty after gigs was supposed to be man handled in the box so that one should have turned out to be a draw. Poetic justice I say.

I couldnt really care if it wasnt supposed to be a free kick

I hate Utd & will be celebrating even more if they get knocked out haha
I hope Chelsea give them a hammering on Sunday as well

That will dent their confidence and see them creeping down the table where they shud be

im no united fan at all. far from it. (love the way u assume i must be). i just saw the game how i saw it. but thats beyond the point, how can you say saha didnt have a sniff? lol he missed plenty of chances, as did the rest of the united side
celtic created naff all and made a lot of mistakes, but man united couldnt score the goal, and thats what counts really. celtic got one from a well taken free kick but they never looked like scoring any other way to be honest.
but i do find it funny united lost.

hehe...I did not assume you were a Mun U fan.....Where did that come from. I assumed the Scotts boys before my post were either rangers hibs or hearts fans but...na...not Man U. I have to agree Celtic were pish in the first half, but came on and played in the second half due to a few changes and they did defend well, but that's my, probably, bias opinion. Never mind m8...Its only a game...AND WE WON....HAHAHAHAHA

Since when did away goals count in a group stage of the champions league?

To be honest, Man U should have put the game to bed by half time. The number of opportunities they wasted in total during the game is criminal really for a club of their stature. I think Celtic were lucky to catch them on an off day.
All credit to them though, they battled well and in the end they deserved to hang on. It was the result of a good team effort, not to mention a fantastic free kick. As soon as I saw Saha was taking the penalty though I knew he'd miss. Whoever made the decision for him to take it over Rooney cocked up big time on that one.
Still think United will get through though. Based on the way they've played so far this year they might even go onto win it if they do manage to qualify.

is that what keeps them top?
sure its not the games against the rest of the division MINUS the bottom side?
always used to be in the event of two tied teams

It is worrying the last 3 or 4 United games I have watched they have absolutely dominated but they never seem to kill teams off when they should. Against a good team, like Chelsea for example, that will hurt them because they will not necessarily dominate play and create as many chances, they must be more ruthless in front of goal.
I still think United will qualify, but beyond that who knows. It looks like you are going to get a tough draw regardless if you finish first or second in the group this season.
To be honest, I would rather see their efforts be concentrated on trying to win the Premiership instead of the Champions League, they are nowhere near good enough in Europe just yet.

Especially against a benfica side who will be eager to put the mout for the second time in two seasons.

Whilst Celtic's result was most satisfying

, I still fully expect Man United to go through. They seem to be saving their best form for the Premiership, which is the complete opposite to my team Liverpool!

Man Utd will go through to the knockout stages. Benfica are a decent team but they are sh*t away from home and Old Trafford is Utd's fortress this season so it's rather unlikely that Benfica will even be able to muster a point from this game. I am upset with Utd though, they should have had qualification wrapped up against Copenhagen weeks back. Complacency, its the same old story
p.s. and i still think Utd will finish top. Copenhagen will hold out for at least a point in the last game

hehe told you. Copenhagen seem to be a decent team at home, respect to them and good luck in the future. But for now, Utd qualify top of the group where they should be
