Warpsmith - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Good choice, Union Jack - Two Full moons & a trout to open your set with.
Nice long and slow transition when you bring in U&K - Paranoid.
Not rushed at all, was perfect and what a mind-blowing track as well.
Set has a nice flow to it and is starting to build-up nicely.
So far so good, keep this up and you will have a good chance of winning this contest.
Another flawless transition to bring in phatjack - pizza & boobs. No sign of any beatmatching faults, excellent mixing dude.
Set is really building up nicely and we only half way. I really do love your transitions dude, you know how to mix.
Another mind-blowing track as well (Nacka Boys - Our Toys). Excellent choice dude.
And then you drop Mashtronic - Force. Perfect place to play it, Excellent flow to this set.
Excellent set dude, you will definitely be at the top of list.

TranceHeini - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Interesting opening track, ive never actually heard Purple Haze - Rush before but it is a nice opening track.
Good transition to bring in Rank 1 - Top Gear. How on earth you like this track, i really dont know?
Can feel the set building nicely now. Perfect place to drop in Lyteo as well.
No beatmatching flaws, but transition were a bit short. Felt like you rushed it a bit.
Liked the way you used the filter there as well.
Excellent transition to bring in Summer Dream. Thats more like it.
Set is building up nicely now. This version of Summer Dream fits nicely into set.
Again used the filter, this time didnt think it was really necessary.
This track really takes your set up another level. Again i didnt think it was really necessary to use the filter on this particular track.
Again not my favourite track. Moonbase 1, but i thought it fitted well with your set.
Only thing was you used the filter a bit too much.
Again nice transition to bring in mahanada and a nice track as well to spin.
And then a flawless transition to bring in Confirmation, really good one there dude had to listen very carefully.
Excellent ending as well with Confirmation. Had a feeling you were gonna spin this.

Originality: 8.5
Most of the tracks i have heard alot already.

Mixing Skills: 8.5
Good transitions except the 1 which was rushed and i thoght u used the filter too much.

Matt Turner - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Well you start your set off with a real pumping track, ATN - Miss a Day.
From hearing this first track you already know we in for some pumping trance.
I do however think this track wasnt a good choice to open with. Wouldve preferred you to open with something more slower and then build your set up.
Then you drop an absolute bomb, Signum - First Strike, again i thought you played the previous track too long.
At the same time you played First Strike from the beginning, try to cut some parts of the beginning and end of a track off otherwise it becomes too long.
Another good transition, timing was good, no beatmatching flaws.
It feels like youve just taken the set up another level. Banging track this, Ayumi Hamasaki - Trauma, and a good place to drop it as well.
A decent transition to bring in CERN - Go fly, but timing was a split-second out there.
Again i thought the position of the next track you brought in was too early.
At least you keeping that same energy by your selection which is important.
A better transition this time, timing was good. Also you still keeping that energy in your set so your build-up is good.
Last transition was good just again thought you played previous track too long.
A really pumping set, not my style but it was different and i really enjoyed it.
Reminded me a bit of the old days.

Originality: 8.5
I wouldnt say it was a very original set but because of the style you chose ill give you credit for being different.

Mixing SKills: 7.5
No real beatmatching flaws, only thing is i thought you played some tracks too long

Track Selection: 8.5
A nice track selection just thought you needed a calmer track to open your set with for more variety.

Build-up & Flow: 9.0
The flow to your set was excellent, just the opening track which i thought was too hard for an opener.

Frank Bloom - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Well you opened with Depeche Mode, a band that i simply love and could even be my favourite band, so any Mode track played is gonna earn you some bonus points.
I loved the remix of Suffer Well also, good tune to open the set with.
The next track you brought in well, very deep i must say. It actually felt like your set dropped a level down.
Mixing was just a bit rushed i think.Felt like you never mixed it.
Your next track was a bit better,Fairmont - Gazebo, had a bit of a melody going rather than that deep electro stuff.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence, probably my favourite all time Mode track so i really enjoyed this and i thank you for playing it. It also felt like you took your set up a level.
Your beatmatching so far is good.
So far enjoying the set, a bit different from what im used to but its good.
Again beatmatching was good to bring in Moby's track, a bit housey but i really enjoyed this track as well.
The flow to your set so far is also good as well.
This track is a bit more calmer which is nice to play as your set nears its end.
Was it just me or was this track of the MFA very short anyway, i love the Chab remix of the next track of Union Jack.
A nice long transition as well, feels almost like a mashup. I think you played the track at the wrong place though.
Was a bit too intense to close your set with.

Originality: 9.0
I thought your set was very original, you played everything from electro to progressive and even dropped in a housey number. Nice variety.

Mixing Skills: 9.0
Beatmatching was good except for transition into track 2.

Really enjoyed your set dude, excellent tracklist and the fact you played 2 Mode tracks was a plus for me.

Set had a nice build up & Flow.
Just thought that the second track did nothing to your set, was almost a waste of a track.
Also Union Jack track was played a bit too late.

Space Garden - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Beautiful opening track, Muhunjala, probably my favorite track at the moment as well.
Beatmatching to bring in Shimmer was ok, i just thought your high tones were a bit too loud.
So far a good start to your set, nice and chilled out and calm.
Better transition when you bring in Matthew Nite vs. Storyteller - Something. no beatmatching flaws as well.
Set is now starting to gain some momentum, lets see where you take it from here.
Again a nice transition to bring in Cruise Control. Lovely flow to your set as well, definitely my style.
Heavenly, a beautiful track and excellent remix by O'Callaghan. Nice track to play dude. Again your mixing is good, cant criticise you anywhere.
2 Sean Tyas tracks played after each other, nothing really wrong with that but dont think you shouldve done this for a contest.
But anyways, anything from Sean Tyas is mind blowing at the moment so im enjoying.
Nice last track, Skyscraper - The Hymn, to end off your set. Good choice that.
Well i have to say this was one of the most enjoyable sets i listened to so far, was totally my style dude

Wasnt a very original set. You didnt really search for unknown tracks and obviously the 2 Sean Tyas tracks counts against you.

Mixing Skills: 8.5

Warmonger - UKTA DJ Mix Review Contest

Opera Style intro to start off with, didnt really like it to be honest but okay it was an intro.
Then you bring in Essential Sound - Syntetikk Life, a bit of a weird track this, never heard this as well.
Dont think the track was well produced as well, melody and beats was way too fast so it just didnt seem right.
Then C-Quence - Endorphine,wasnt well mixed, high tones was way too loud of endorphine and it basically killed off the other track.
I could barely hear the other track playing and it didnt feel like it was mixed coz there was no beatmatching. Timing was out as well.
Again your timing was completely out when you bring in Darude - Serendipity. Your mixing feels very stop start as well.
Your next transition, beatmatching was a bit out, could hear some train wrecking, again timing was out.
This track sounds nice, Subdive - Above clouds, nice and uplifting.
I think sometimes wen you bring in your track, that tracks high tones are too loud.
Another nice tune this, Derelict - Extend your mind. Your set is finally building up nicely after a dissapointing start.
Again your timing was out with your next transition. And again your tones as well, play a bit more with your equaliser.
Set is full of energy i must say.
I also dont know where you taking the set, set was just starting to flow nicely with those uplifters and then you brought this really dark track in.
Now it feels like you going back to uplifting with V-Tec - New York. Flow to your set is very up & down.
Your next transition was very poor dude, timing out, beatmatching out again your high tones are too loud.
All i can say to you is keep practising dude and youll get there.

I know you searched for unknown tracks but ill be honest and say some of them werent very good.
Didnt really enjoy the set also.

Your buildup was a bit up & down. Second track had no meaning, Serendipity didnt fit and was a poor track.
After that it was better until Wake me up which just spoilt everything. Then it picked up again.

Overall: 5.625







DJ Resemo - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Interesting start, the Beatles - Because,a bit weird but i enjoyed the track.
Your next transition was good, just thought you played Who's watching too long. Couldve cut out a bit.
Cant really feel the set picking up any momentum though, keeping it on the same level.
Your transitions so far are good. Just try to cut off some parts of the tracks.
The next track i felt was a bit weird, Afrikamama, didnt really take your set anywhere.
Then Dominic Plaza - Sundown, can finally feel the set picking up now.
Beautiful track this as well.
Transition to bring in Space Guitar was good, no beatmatching flaws.
ANother beautiful track as well, Space Guitar.
Next transition was ok, a few minor beatmatching flaws though. Mind blowing track this from Mr Itay, Atlantis as is all of his productions.
Another super track from Hydroid but not very original to play two tracks from the same artist for a contest.
I liked your ending alot, more calmer and chilled out. Also gave it a bit more variety.

Wouldve given you more but you played 2 hydroid tracks which isnt very original for a contest.

Mixing Skills: 8.5
beatmatching was good, timing was spot-on. Loved your mixing style as well.

Wasnt one of those tracklists which just catches your eye. Mainly because of the first 4 tracks.

Your first four tracks cost you because your set only flowed nicely at the half hour mark.
Your first half hour needed a bit more variety. I thought your 1st half hour was too similar.

CJ Milner - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Good start to the set, anything from Harry Lemon is good.
Excellent transition, beatmatching & timing perfect.
Liking this second track as well and i have a feeling im really gonna enjoy this set.
Another perfect transition again, dude you really do know how to mix.
Set is building up nicely now, really enjoying this.
Retroid - Snowdrop, this track just gets better everytime i hear it.
Sets just keeps on getting better as we go on, Track Selection, beatmatching, basically everything is spot on dude.
Didnt actually like the track,Lost in the moment, but it kept the flow of your set which is important.
Lovely ending to your set as well dude, good choice.
Excellent set dude, very enjoyable tracklist, mixing is flawless as well.

X3mmer - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Mind blowing start to your set with Arctic Quest - Renaissance. Full of energy this track.
Beatmatching ok, nothin special. Timing out though.
Renaissance was played out too long as well.
Dont think it was a good choice to play Flow after Renaissance, just doesnt fit to me.
Enjoying this set, different from most of the other sets as this is pure trance and no proggy stuff.
Set is building up nicely now as well.
Transition to bring in Monday Bar wasnt so good, timing wasnt right. This track really takes your set up a level.
SUmmer Son, weird choice but keeps flow of set going.
Heavenly is a great uplifter and excellent mix by O'Callaghan as well. Timing was a bit out again.
Timing out again to bring in F-16. Dont think this track really flowed with the set dude.
Overall a good trancey set, just work more on your timing dude. Practise makes perfect.

SergS - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Nice opener to your set with Kosmos Epsilon. Very calm track and is actually a perfect set opener.
Transitions are ok, no real flaws. Timing is a fraction out though.
Flow to your set is ok, very calm though. Build up is slow but its kewl.
Love the track Deep Level Lines (Batz Remix).
Now Tearrain - Chained, nice of you to play Mattis track.
Build up is a bit too slow though for my liking. Its on the same level the whole time.
You exceeded the time limit as well, please read the rules.
Overall a good set dude, enjoyed it.

Well dude, you picked a peach of a track to open your set.
Couldnt have chosen a better track than Jose Amnesia vs Shawn Mitiska (Flash Brothers Remix).
So far so good, nice flow going, nice choice by playing Shiloh - Dream On. This is definitely my style.
Timing of your transitions so far is spot on, this obviously isnt your first mix.
And then you just took your set up another level by dropping Love Machine - Poison, Set is really starting to build up nicely.
Dont think this track,ID - SParka Remix actually fitted with the set and for me actually spoilt the flow a bit.
Nice finish to your set also now, starting to get more trancey and pumping with Kuffdam & Plant.
Really enjoyed your set dude, nice tracklist and flow to the set.
Only the 1 track, Sparka remix, that i thought never fitted in the set.

Interesting opener to your set, Factoria - Kissed by an angel,
Just by hearing that opening track i knew we gonna be in for a lovely set.
Good transition to bring in Flood Warning, no beatmatching flaws, timing good as well.
Interesting choice this,SIgnum - Supersonic, took your set from uplifting to harder tech influenced trance.
Not really a fan of this tech-trance stuff but thats your choice so its kewl.
Thought your set went into a bit of a lull with that track.
Picks up again with F-16, the break in this track is phenomenal and beacause of this makes the track unique,uplifting & Tech-trance so an excellent choice.
Nice end to your set as well with DJ Shog - Jealousy.
You couldve actually played another track dude, still had 5 minutes left of your alotted time.
NIce variety in your set, enjoyed it dude.

Again not the most original of tracklisting but a very enjoyable one.

Started off with Hawk - Need for Cognition, nice track this but not to keen as an opener.
Transition to bring in Muhunjala was ok, i thought timing was slightly out though. Beautiful track this as well, wouldve preferred you to open the set with this track.
Lovely track this next one,Ilya Malyuev - Jump The Chance, so far excellent tracklist dude.
Your beatmatching is good, i cant fault you with that, only thing is your timing is out.
Track Selection is excellent dude, Nick Thompson & Spekuless - Deep Level Lines (Elevation Remix) is simply mind blowing.
Funabashi - Daylight, Yayyyyyyy, one of my favourites from last year and such a pleasure to hear this beauty again.
Set is starting to pick up nicely now. I like.
Tracklisting just keeps getting better, Bakke & Joni - Bali, but again your timing was a bit out.
Was a bit dissapointed with your next track,Sector 7 - Inside of Me, dont think it fitted in with the set..
Love Machine - Poison, this track fitted nicely after Inside of me but wouldve preferred if you kept with more melodic proggy like your first 7 tracks.

Nice start to the set,very chilled out, i like the guitars there.
NIce transition,no beatmatching errors. Track was played out a bit long though.
Man you spinning some beautiful tracks dude, excellent tracklisting so far and absolutely loving your set dude.
V-Sag - Kitty in an empty house, absolutely mind-blowing melody dude. That piano was just beautiful.
Keep this up and youll be the winner for me dude.
Pefect flow to your set as well,Feels like im chilling it out on the beach.
Transitions are all good so far and set is just getting better.
Dude where did you find these tunes? I absolutely love them.
Can feel the set picking up now with Benz & MD - Percasins. Excellent first half hour, lets hope you dont spoil it.
And now Bennetts work on your loving arms. Hated the original but absolutely love Benetts remix.
Another chilled out track with Zanzibar, brilliant dude.
Bit of a weird outro but it flowed nicely with the set so its kewl.
Well dude, your set absolutely blew me away. Chilled out, relaxing, basically a perfect summer set even though its winter by me.
This is the winner for me.
Excellent work Mr Tiest-o-holic. Its amazing how times change.

Tony G - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Ok nice track to open set with, Mike shiver - Water Ripples.
But then you completely ruined the track with all these effects. Try not to use them so often, just keep it simple man.
Transition to bring in Sail isnt wonderful, timing out.
Again all these effects just ruin the tracks which is a pity.
Fred Baker - Forever Friends just doesnt fit after Tracking Treasure Down.
Nice to hear some Jonas in your set but unfortunately the flow to your set isnt very good.
More effects which again spoil the tracks and the set.
You then played F-16 after Till we Meet Again and then you play Insight.
F-16 just doesnt fit in there for me.
Time limit exceeded as well, so im gna gave to penalise you on that as well.
Sorry dude, but you gotta read the rules.

Wasnt the most original of tracklists, Too many overplayed tracks chosen.

Mixing Skills: 4.0
Timing was out, and all those effects and backspins and whatever they are just ruined the set for me.
Just keep it simple for next time.

No flow to your set at all. Tracks were misplaced. SOme just didnt fit at all.

8pm - UKTA DJ Mix Contest Review

Good opener with Monday Bar (Sunset Remix). I think this remix does its purpose as an opener.
Transition to next track is good, no real flaws or anything.
Then Blank & Jones - Revealed, set is starting to pick up a bit now.
So far transitions are ok, nothing special but again no real flaws or anything.
Purple Haze - Eden just takes your set up another level.
Nice tracks played in this set. NOw Funabasi - Daylight, i love this track to bits.
Ended off your set with Arise (Hammer & Funabashi Remix), I actually think this track sound more or less the same as Daylight.
Overall a good set, enjoyed it.

Wasnt the most original of tracklisting, i must say but i still enjoyed it.

OK nice opener to your set, very chilled which i like it.
Nice track as well to open up with. Good transition to bring in Time to say goodbye.
Beatmatching good, timing spot on as well.
Nice set so far enjoying it, set is slowly building up but i enjoy chilled out sets.
Your transitions are good, this isnt obviously your first mix.
Love this track Space GUitar by Mike Foyle as well, good set so far.
Starting to pick up a bit now to the end as well. Nice flow.
Benz MD - Percasins another excellent tune.
Overall a good set, enjoyed it alot. Chilled out and slowly picking up towards the end.

Actually a bit dissapointed in you that you didnt even bother to post your tracklist.

well this is my usual style here thats why i played the 2 sean tyas tracks in a row, giving it a good flow, and they fit together perfect.

Its a very solid mix, the mood stays the same thruout the mix.
Very relaxing and calm mix, the eqing is nice in the transitions
althou there are some parts where theres just too much happening,example:
the transition to love machine. The transition of ID track to Kuffdam & plant is
chaotic, i think you lost the controll over the tracks at that point.
overall its a nice set,with a nice atmoshpere!Nice job done!

Interesting set,the transitions are ok,the eqing was ok,there were some slight
beatmatching problems, the tracks are ok,
the arrangement was a bit dull to be honest.
Probably what i didnt quite enjoy in this mix was that
the transitions were all kinda the same.

Well it was a very exciting set, i didnt quite enjoy the tracks in it, the timing wasnt
really spot on, but what i liked in this set, was the feeling of it, clearly you dared
to experiment with stuff, and you managed to reflect your personality through the music,
which is a huge plus from me. The music style as i said wasnt my taste but you love it
and the way you mix the music and play them reflects your love of those songs.
very exciting mix, i enjoyed listening to this set!

A solid mix, with nice transitions,very nice tracks, the arrangement is good,
very enjoyable set,technical part of the mix is good, there are some slight

A very laidback mix, the songs are very chilled, the atmosphere is relaxing and deep.
Eqing is ok, the timing could have been tighter, the buildup is good(from beaks to 4/4)
it was a nice set actualy, maybe a bit variation in tracks wouldhave made a better feeling
but it was cool so.

Well its a nice set, with nice tracks, the buildup is nice, the mixing is good
the feel is ok too, you have nice skills. There were some tracks that i didnt quite enjoy and
the eqing could have been a bit better, but overall it was an ok set.
with a nice intro , starting of slowly and the at the end going crazy.

the atmosphere in the beginning is very tense, until marco v comes,
and everything becomes more funkyer, the mixing till now was good althou maybe the
timing between atn and andain could have been a bit more tighter but it was ok too.
God, Marco v is just destroying me an excelent mashup by Matthew J!i remeber beeing
nuts about liquidation... Signum is comming in,the transition was good too,maybe
the eqing could have been more sharper but its good,well with singnum now in
it seems that the mix is starting to develop and a directions is arising,at this point i would explain the
first two tracks as a warmup, marco v sets the theme of the song, namely the belief in god
first strike being the first strike of divinity or should we say appearance of it
yes, appearance suits better,lets stay with appearance! great track, has a divine
atmoshpere in it indeed.Dark side is comming in,a small beatdismatch but it got corrected
in time.hmm, i dont know but i kinda feel that this song is appearing in the wrong moment
maybe that small beatdismatch was indicating it at the beginning too,but lets go forward.
Trauma is comming in ,transition is very trippy great job here!!!
yes and this track confirms that dark side of the moon was in the wrong place, this seems
to have the same feel and direction as signum-first strike, perfect, suits perfectly in the mix
slowly shifting the listener higher and higher, hands in the aaaaiiiiaaarrrrrrr, wooohoohooohooo
and Cern is comming in, slightly lost the tempo of one track ther, but it gor corrected pretty fast
the timing might have been tighter, overall the transition was ok, confusing track
it works, it works,its doing what the title is saying indeed , trippy song, amazing breakdown
were in the skys right now, Slowly entering the gates of heaven, So Commander Tom is comming
and hes telling us not to hesitate to enter the gates of heaven, so were welcome to enter it
great, there we are, totaly knocked out, looking around, seeing that everyone is groovin and enjoyin himself
suddenly were part of the whole thing, and start groovin everyone there, going totaly nuts, forgot to
talk about the transition, it was good!
wooooooww, this track is dangerous hitting your f**kin head non stop.
aaaaaaand Rockin' is comming in, transition is nice, twas cool,and the last song sets the end to the mix
indeed, nice way to end this trip, and a huge dance with the allmighty and his workers
great stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall, nice trip,the trackselection was good, althou the dark side of the moon upset me very much
but hey,it went on nicely afterwards.There were some slight beatmach conflicts but you solved them
quicly,at some point the eq ing couldhave been a bit more accurate.
What else, well i enjoyd this set! it was a nice trip!

Overall, it was a very good mix, i enjoyed it alot, espec the clown part.
i like this techi style stuff!
i want to mention one thing here, everything was nice in the transition exept for one very small
beauty mistake that i mentioned above(the monday bar part). Just one thing, dont overuse the
volume down and volume up when the track kicks in, in my opinion in some parts you just spoiled the
feeling.
I Liked this mix, definately one of my favorites!!! Great job done here man,you know what your doin,
you have style and a confident mixing style, good work!

Very nice tracks, i loved them all, they were all beautyfull, the atmosphere of the
mix was very nice, warm, energetic. The Buildup is awesome too, the track selection
is whats very amazing, amazing tracks one after the other.
The mixing could have been a bit tighter and the timing could have been better too,
and the loop that your having throughout the mix sometimes it trainwrecks and it
sounds very unpleasent.
Great job done man, deffinately one of my personal favorites from this contest!

Lovely set, i remember the set you made for the last competition,i was nuts about that one

Well, i dont know what to say.When i started listening to this the first track was kinda interesting
the intro and setting of atmosphere was not bad, but when it came to the transitions, it all got very bad.
im sorry to say this really but i was kinda dissapointed here, i was hoping to hear something waay
better from you. Maybe you just started the whole djing thing.
The trackselection, deffinately you got your taste and your true to it, thats good!
i think its just a matter of time and practice for the technical parts to improve.

Great, i didnt really enjoy the breaks part in the beginning but after that the tracks
are just gorgeous, the mixing is good, the timing isnt really tight but its good, eqing is good.
the buildup is very good, i enjoyd this set alot, it was very nice, it wasnt attacking nor anything

Well, I couldn't expect much more than the last place, but I had a great time creating this set anyway. I see everybody enjoyed originality and I assure that future sets will be much better mixed.

Unfortunatelly, my favourite CJ Milner is only on 5th place, but Tim's set was also great. . Anyway, that was a great comp... I didn't expect such high level!

I can see a huge difference in revieweing between U guys... Akazi is more of the originality and bubmeister more of the mixing skills...

well, the points that gave to tony g's mix as you see are very unstable, your points are stable (6.5 6.5 7).

and as you said i was more for originality in sets, thats why warmonger got 10 and tony g 9. theyr sets were totaly different from other people sets, and i think everyone noticed that.

btw just out of curiousity, was there any price like the mixthemix acount from last times?
not that I participated for that but it´s always nice

Well that'll do me, it's good to see you guys got what i was going for

tonight you can hear a good example of one of Tim Hollander's Mixes at Liquid FM during the UKTA Roadshow

Well perhaps you can.....

As you might know I already got a weekly show on Liquid.fm, so I´m not sure if I could manage to do another show, atleast not every week...
The problem is that I don´t get around 40 new tracks every week so I can´t stay really original if I have to do two 2hour mixes every single week...
Perhaps a monthly 1 or 2 hour show will be possible but I´m not sure about that yet

So perhaps I will pass the residency on to the 2nd placed dj...

Dunno...

Btw Tim..I dled ur mix..some awesome tracks and build-up...but there was some transition probs in 2 tracks of the 9..but overall a very good set m8..

I've got a monthly show as well on Ensonic.FM...so I was thinkin' about a 1 hour show residency aswell on trancereligion...would be great..
