Michael Splint bioography

Michael Splint started dj-ing at the age of 16 at the local youth club. He then moved on to doing mobile parties with his friend Jan W, playing all sorts of music. He quickly discovered that he had a great passion for almost every genre – but it was the electronic end of the scene that made his day as a DJ. Soon he started doing local radio with fellow House/Trance music lovers Kim “Lazer” Nielsen and LP Støvring. The show “Sound Of Music” was very popular and was moved to the much larger radio in the area – Radio ABC. He stopped doing the mobile parties and started playing at a club in his hometown. Slowly he started getting jobs at various House and Trance events around Denmark.

After a while he decided enough is enough and stopped playing. In 1990 Michael started working for the biggest Danish Record Shop – Stereo Studio – where he was for several years. He then managed a small record department at a Hi-Fi store – Expert – for the next 2 years.

Evidently it would only become a short break from the scene, as he in late 1997 was asked by his friend LP Støvring to join him in Copenhagen to start up a business. He thought about it shortly and not many months later he was on his way to the Danish Capital. After a while he started making good contacts at various clubs and started dj-ing again.

Then things started to roll. A visit to Gatecrasher changed everything. On that tour was the owner of Denmark’s biggest Disco – Diskotek IN. He was very impressed by the music, the crowd and their reaction to the atmosphere as the DJ put on anthem after anthem. After this top experience, the club owner wanted to do something similar in Denmark. When they returned to Denmark Club Gorgeous came on the drawing board and in February 2000 the club opened. Since the first night Michael has been a resident there and has had numerous jobs around Denmark. It has also brought him to Germany and Sweden.

As a DJ, Michael loves almost any kind of trance. It’s hard to put words into what style he plays – whatever moves him really….It’s all blended nicely with instrumental and vocal tracks and he doesn’t restrict himself of only doing one style in his set – there should be something for most Trance lovers.

Since the start of the club all of the other residents have made music. The most successful being Michael Parsberg, who scored a major hit with Safri Duo. All this made Splint want do more than just dj-ing – there is rarely something better than playing something you’ve made and see the reaction of the crowd.

He sat down thinking of ideas for tracks and hooked up with Danish Trance act Tukan to help him produce. The first thing they did together was Airbase – Genie, which already was signed to Alphabet City. Michael’s first own production was written by Michael Parsberg, his partner Jacob Stavnstrup, Michael Splint and his wife Sasja, who also did the vocals on the track.

So in reality he has only been doing Productions and Remixes since the summer of 2002 – but with some help from good friends and an in depth knowledge of how the business works, he is all set to go.
