Around a 1000 or so clubbers and myself went into the 1st annual white party in Hong Kong with high hopes and we were not disappointed at all. The headlining dj was the one and only, queen of hard dance herself, Lisa Lashes. She had support from local dj talents such as Dj Yin, Jason F, Tarek and Christian. The venue and set up of this party was much better than previous setups in other clubs. Having 2 floors proved very beneficial as it separated those who wanted to dance and those who just stood there.
At around 2, Lisa came on with much excitement to the crowd. Her presence itself ignited the room to frenzy, with people screaming and jumping everywhere. She immediately began with her trademark hard house style, though throughout the night she played incorporated a lot of hard trance in to her set. Lisa’s choice of tracks was amazing, she really knew how to read and please the crowd. She was also very good at interacting with the crowd; at several points during her performance she began spinning vinyl on her fingertips, much to the crowds delight. At another point, she wiped sweat off her breast and teasingly through the tissue into the crowd. Lisa’s mixing skills were among the best I have ever seen and I don’t think she made a single mixing mistake in the whole night. During her set, she played songs like a thriller remix which definitely caught the crowds’ attention. The crowd was everything a dj could ask for, reacting to every single command from Lisa and the other dj’s. I managed to speak to Lisa at the end of her set and she was very delighted with the crowd, saying it was more than she could ever ask for.
The only minor problem with this party was that there was not enough ventilation, which made the whole room very hot. Other than this, the promoters and organizers did a fantastic job with this event. This could potentially be the turning point where HK goes back to the glory days it was in the past where all the top dj’s came.
