About 1 Million people were dancing under sunshine to the beats of 32 Love mobiles, international DJ´s like Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, PvD and Rank 1 made u go insane. From the early afternoon til early morning, was a whole town in Switzerland a symbol of love and peace. For one day u could just forget all your sorrows, and u could do what u love most in your life. For one day u could just dance at the Streetparade at Zurich.

The warm up for the 14. Streetparade began at 1.00 pm. The party people could dance at 5 big Dj Stages which were located all around the 2,4 Km route of the parade. Dj´s like Signum, Aly & Fila, Rank 1 or Darren Tate would be performing there til midnight. One DJ stage was also at the local trainstation, so if u came there by train u did arrive within thousands of celebrating party people. DJ Tatana the Djane who made the anthem for the this years parade (today is tomorrow) did perform there for instance. Also u could just watch the performance´s of the different dance crews from all around the world while taking a chilling bath in the local sea.

At 3.00 pm came finally the moment, which we all had been waiting for so long. The love mobiles did turn on their engines and u could hear the first beats. Right in this moment was no escape. No step forward or backwards was possible, u just had to move with the crowd. Everyone was clapping their hands to the rythm of the first beats. The girls on the trucks were moving their body´s while sending sweet kisses to the celebrating people.

In a mix of Techno, House and Trance was the whole town just one big Rave. Even the balconies of various hotels were designed with flowers. No matter if old or young, everybody was part of the party. I saw women who could be my grandmother and also children who could be my sister or brother. I saw african, chinese, dutchs, germans, americans and many more nationalities, in all imaginable colours and outfits. But compared to the usual buisness of Bush and Co, there was no crime or war at all. It was just a big wave of love! And to be honest, I have been to many raves all around the world. No matter if USA, Spain, Holland, Germany, Uk ....but actually I think, I never saw so many friendly people at one place like I did there. I mean I never had any bad experience with a Raver at all yet, since they are probably the most friendliest people in world. But wow the swiss people did know allready what u wanted before u told them. Its been like they were reading all your need´s from your eyes. And after each sentence u got a lovely merci, after each smile u got a smile back. Really this is what I call a family!

In the second part of my review I will focus on the Energy after show party with Tiesto, Armin v. Buuren and PvD.

Announced was the Energy rave as one of the biggest after show parties to the this years Streetparade. 3 Top DJ´s would perform there for 2 hours each. And to be honest the rave was more than just a big aftershow party. It was an incredible experience into Trance with an amazing crowd, Dj´s who could rock the house and a location which was perfect for an event of this size.

The show did start at around 7 pm with a slightly delay as DJ Koris was warming up for the Nr.1 DJ of the world "Tiesto".
As Tiesto came on stage 15 minutes later, the hall was maybe just filled to 20 %. Nevertheless had Tiesto a few words for the people in the hall. And even if the hall was just filled to 20 %, the people there made noise like 50.000 while giving Tiesto a big Hello in return.

Tiesto did start the set with his ISOS opener "like a waterfall" and everybody in the hall began to move to the grooving beats. Some people were also singing a little song for Tiesto and he was quitly amused about it.

And once more Tiesto did show, why he is the Nr. 1 DJ in the world.
His set consisting of all genres in electronic music, was again a great journey into dance music. So he was playing for instance a few techno traxx like wurz & blosse or the drill many hard and melodical Trance traxx like the Sander van Doorn bootleg of message in a bottle, push´s strange world and a few own traxx like forever today or adagio for strings. Especially while forever today and adagio u could see thousands of hands in the air, each one equipped with a flue or something else which made light. And I dont know what it is but he is moving the crowd in a way no other DJ can do. It is sometimes like he could look into future so that he always knows what track would rock the crowd most in this moment. Also u completely forget the time. I mean he did start and 2 hours later he was done allready. And for me it was like he did only play for 10 min.
Also Tiesto was mixing with Cd´s and well not each transition was perfect but we all know that he doesnt like CD mixing that much wink.gif. Also he was a bit to big for the DJ deck, which was actually a bit to small for him. So Tiesto had to bow down all the time while mixing....Nevertheless his set was one of the best set´s I saw this year. And this were not less tongue.gif
As Tiesto was finished he got standing ovations and the people were calling "Zugabe, Zugabe". But today was unfortunately no time for an overtime since Tiesto had to leave for his gig at SMS a few hours later.
Though his set shouldnt be the only "Burner" of the evening! After the set, I had the chance to talk to someone from hungary and he told me that he came together with 300 people of Hungary to switzerland only to see Tiesto. Well this is what i call a true fan wink.gif

After him came the Dj Yoji Biomehanika. The Dj from Japan who is famous for his hard and crazy trance set´s did kick in with heavy beats. Nothing compared to the stuff Tiesto was playing before. He was also giving out some handshakes to the people infront of the stage.
Actually im not the biggest hard Trance fan but to be honest his set did continue there, where Tiesto´s did end. He gave a great performance something I can hardly describe since it was so crazy what he has been doing. For instance he did lay down during a massive break while closing his eyes. So he was laying there for almost 1 minute without moving.
He was also playing his massive remix of Ligaya and a remix of an old pop track (send u an Angel). Very sick, to this moment everybody was singing the vocal, its been almost like at an Eurythmics concert.

After 2 hours and 30 minutes of Yoji, the Djane Tatana came on stage and unfortunately with her an annoying MC. He did kinda ruin her set with his "incredible Tatana", "Today is tomorrow" ... And I actually think that she was a bit annoyed of him as well. Even her guestbook was filled with upset comments of disapointed fans. Nevertheless she was performing her Anthem to the parade "Today is Tomorrow" and the crowd did love it, not the MC though tongue.gif.

After 1 hour of Tatana came PvD. And im glad the MC left! PvD was also performing for 2 hours and he did start with his own track "the other side". And well it was again an "OK" set with some very good moments but in general it was not "the mega set" which he used to play a lot in the past. He just focuses too much on his own tracks recently. Though if u like his style of cut transitions and "pop tracks" u will love him.

After Paul came NuNrg with a great live performance of own tracks. Especially the laser show was impressive.

And then came the man who should make history on this day. Armin van buuren, with his first gig at Switzerland. After 2 "OK" sets of him at Nature one and Sensation he could finally convince me again, that he is still a great DJ. As he did start at around 3.30 am the hall was still full of people. And this after almost 14 hours of non stop party.
He did start his set with the track love theme dusk in a special intro edit. Straight after this he did warm up with tracks of Way out West, Andy Moor or Dogzilla. While he was performing u could either watch the sexy dancers or u could just dance your ass off. Some "hardcore" people like me could do both though tongue.gif

But not only progressive stuff came over the speakers this evening. He did also play some sick almost Techno tunes like Top Gear, play it louder or make some noise. And this was the point which made this set so special compared to the other ones of him lately. It was not just a commercial show like at sensation or a hardtrance experience like at Nature one. No he did touch each style from progressive over to trance to techno. We had long melodical breaks like "Castamera", heavy beats, and crazy sounds with squelch. As he did play tracks like Message in a bottle or his own tune serenity the crowd went crazy. U saw jumping people, some others were crying, and others were singing. Its been maybe the best moment of the whole evening!!

As Armin was finished at 5.30 am he got standing ovations like Tiesto before!
Its hard to say who the better set had, since u cant really compare them. Due the fact that Tiesto had to play so early, he was playing maybe infront of a half filled hall. While Armin did play to a time as the hall was completely filled. So for me they were even, and to be honest thats not really the point. We had a great evening with great DJ´s and this is what counts! biggrin.gif

In conclusion I have to say that the Streetparade was a great experience into dance music, with so many nationalities and friendly people like u can find them nowhere else in the world. Sure some things were maybe a bit disapointing for some people like the annoying MC or that Tiesto had to play so early. But well its like in life. Just try to make the best out of it.

Event Line-Up
Yoji Biomehanika (JPN) , Johan Gielen (NL), Darren Tate (UK), Blank & Jones (D), Live: NU NRG (I), Milk & Sugar (D), Rank 1(NL), Axwell (SWE), DJ Luna (NL) , 100 % ISIS (NL)

Switzerland’s annual Street Parade in Zurich had to be one of the best festivals in Europe this summer with an amazing line up which included the top European DJs as well as the local Swiss DJ’s. As usual you had plenty of interesting and exotic costumes, floats, freaks, drag queens, topless ladies and electronic music as with many parade festivals. Kick Off time for the parade was about 3:00 PM but preparation and activities started hours before to warm things up. There were 32 Love Mobiles heavily decorated ranging from all types of music, from house to trance. An estimated 1,000,000 people attended Street Parade 05 this year. The parade was headed by The Sirup Love Mobile with Switzerland’s hometown hero on the decks, DJ Tatana. As the Love Mobiles left Buerkliplatz, the crowd goes crazy when Tatana played the official Street Parade anthem, “Today Is Tomorrow” and the march begins. Couple of Love Mobiles behind was the Golden Age Love Mobile presented by Offshore Music and Tilgate which featured top trance artists Yves DeRuyter, Graham Gold, Misja Helsloot, Ale & Fila, Solid Slide, and Darren Tate. The weather started cloudy during warm up, but it was sunny through out the whole afternoon.

Energy 05

Event Line-Up
Paul Van Dyk (D), Tiesto (NL), Armin Van Buuren (NL), Yoji Biomehanika (JAP),
DJ Tatana (ZH), DJ Energy (ZH), Nu-Nrg (Live) (I), DJ Spoke (VD), DJ Koris (VD)

After a full day in the sun, it was time for the Energy 05 concert which started at 6:00 PM. The Street Parade was still going on at this time, but I decided to go back to the hotel and take a short rest. I missed DJ Koris and Tiesto, but the night was short from over. As I arrived to the newly re-built Hallendstadion, I was amazed at the size of the stadium. There was a hardstyle/hardcore two floor area, a Swiss Trance room and the Mainroom which was massive. Hard trance DJ, Yoji Biohmehanika was on the decks when I entered the Mainroom. From the seats, it was insane to see the energy from the crowd on the dancefloor going crazy.

DJ Tatana
After a busy afternoon, the local Swiss DJ continued to rock the crowd. She was presented by an annoying MC, who couldn’t shut up after every other song. She played some quality tracks, but the most memorable one had to be her own classic “End Of Time” which was her last track. The crowd lit their lighters to pay respect and honor the Swiss Trance Queen.

Nu-Nrg
The uplifting hard trance duo from Italy performed a Live Performance Act, playing all their productions. They started off with their number one hit, Dreamland which kept the dance floor moving. The Swiss fans really enjoy hard and energetic trance, and Nu-Nrg did exactly that. With the crowd already hyped up, they threw down Manerio – Angelic Touchdown (Nu-Nrg Remix). This was definitely the peak time track of their set and at the breakdown, you can feel the crowd getting ready for that huge RIFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!! As the track built back up you can hear the roar from the crowd as they danced their ass off.

Armin Van Buuren
Performing for the first time ever in Switzerland, the #3 DJ was going to show them why he is one of the best DJ’s in the world. It was unusual to see Armin play at 3:30 AM, but the crowd didn’t let up. The opening track was none other than, Mike Foyle Vs The Signal Runners – Love Theme Dusk. He starts out proggy the first few tracks knowing that he needed to get more energetic to please the fans. Things started to warm up after he played Jonas Steur – Castamara. From their on he played all trance and more energetic then what he’s accustomed too. He played Shivers (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix) more than midway through the set which got the crowd going again. Then he follows it up with Inertia – The Chamber which drew another roar from the crowd. Few tracks later he plays, Serenity, which seems to be the Swiss’s favorite trance track at the moment. Closer towards the end, he plays his most famous track, Communication (Part III). Wow! Seeing my favorite DJ at a huge event among thousands of fans was freaking amazing. By now it was close to 5:30 AM, so I took a cab and crashed at my hotel.
