It was a long hot day in Malta, the eve of a public holiday when i was called up by fresh to visit the party site, and so i went to see for myself the layout of the place.
The event was held in the massive Eden Ice Arena in one of the most popular places and venue for a party site. The things i did notice the most were the giant hands protruding from the ceiling and the old 1940's aeroplane tail that were both going to be filled with air prior the event.
The Dj stand stood at the back of the place surrounded by the VIP area elevated from the rest of the crowd for a clear view of all the clubbers that were present.
As soon as i arrived home, circa 16:00 i took a nap and later i began to prep myself for the night.
The queueing system was fast and efficient as always by fresh managment! They handed me a pass and i went straight inside to witness what was going on... The first Dj spinnning was Daniele Davoli handing out a warm up set for Paul Oakenfold which was supposed to begin at 1am.
I must say that i did not enjoy Davoli's mixing as he sounded a little bit offbeat to me... but the tunes he played kept building a good vibe among the people. As soon as 1am struck Paul Oakenfold entered the Dj stand and fans were raging in the vip area to take a glimpse or a photo shot to a great artist. After a few minutes he began signing autographs to the fans and the time had come, for him to begin his works.
Daniele Davoli's last tune was still running and Oakie was headphones ready and tune on deck....
Amazingly he started off with LSG - Netherworld and i was very much impressed when he turned down this tune just after 2 minutes with no delay Yilmaz Altanhan's Eighties started running. The crowd went wild as eighties was on.
I did manage to ID some other tracks that he played.

and much more. He played for 3 straight hours and included tunes like Threee Drives on a Vinyl - Greece 2000, Push - Universal Nation and Above & Beyond - Believe (Smith & Pledger Remix). Of course he played Southern Sun and Tiesto's Traffic. It was a wonderful night the people just loved the music and the vibe was excellent.
The cost of the drinks was down to earth. usually here we don't pay too much for drinks and you can always expect top quality bars from Fresh music agency. They always take care of their crowd :thumbsup: . From beginning to the end the area was filled with people and there was even room to circle through some areas without any problems.
The most memorable moments were when Oakenfold spun Seven cities, Traffic and of Course Southern Sun....everybody was singing to the tune, OMG!
What i did not like as in every our party, is the overcrowdness of mobile toilets, but that just happens anywhere! There's not enough places 'to go' when you need them!
I must say i will give this party an 8 out of 10 rating due to Daniele Davoli's Style of mixing, but the rest was just superb and it sure is a night to remember!!! I still consider Oakenfold a great man and he showed me this the second time last sunday.
Too Bad i did not meet Oakie for an Interview, a nice pic with him and the UKTA logo migh have been nice, but i will leave that to the party administration for next time tongue.gif
Value : 7/10 - hmm pricey but it's not every day that Oakenfold is here to play so
