What an amazing premier of the „sensation white“ in Germany. The streets at Gelsenkirchen were full with white dressed people, trains completly in white did arrive at the central station, Dj´s with amazing set´s and a stadion with thousands of dancing white people made this evening to an incredible trip into electronic music.
U need to imagine the moment as u leave your car and enter the stadion for the very first time. U will be like „bash“ ..... Because all u can see by entering the stadion is white. People dressed in white, equipment in white, sit´s in white, - the whole area was looking like a „Winterdream“.
As the first act´s mainly german ones did start around 9 pm the stadion was allready full. Evrybody was dancing to the shacking beats of Disco boy´s & Co.
After the german act´s to the beginning came the MEGAMIX. And i really need to say i was impressed. The most Sensation Megamixes were well OK, but this one was a burner! Some of the best trance tunes of all time were part of it besides of House and club tunes. Like for instance „airwave and cafe del Mar, the orange theme and rocker or Tiesto´s Adagio for strings... And not only the tunes were great also the pyro technics. Evrything was burning, fireworks did explode around u and u could watch pretty cool effect´s at the 5 video walls in the hall. In conclusion I can say that the Megamix mix was a great 35 minutes show of trance, african beats, house and techno. U couldnt stop dancing!
After the fantastic Megamix came the first Main event of the evening. Carl Cox. The man from the states who is allready for a long, long time in the scene did show that he still doesnt belong to the old iron. His set was absolutely amazing! He did show that u can do so much more with simple tracks. He was scratching, breaking, using effect´s . Something what u can only do with such a big experience. So he was fading in breaks, beats or sometimes just a synthline and u could watch it all the time at the video walls. Well if u had time to watch besides dancing
.... His mix did consist of deep house and techno with that typicall african influence like he is famous for. And to be honest techno can be so great if the right Dj spins it. It can be just more than just bum bum bum. It can make u fly....
After Carls set of 1.40 hours the next big name came on stage. Sven Väth....
The man from Frankfurt who did open recently his new Cocoon club, did continue where Cox has stoped. Though his set was harder in a way and he was playing his typicall underground techno. Simple tracks with heavy effects and smashing synthlines.
After Sven came the man who did produce the theme for the this years sensation Armin van Buuren.
The long awaited and hyped Star from Holland who didnt play that much yet at Germany did open his set with something what u see quite a lot recently in the trance szene. Tiesto did start it once at TIC and more and more DJ´s are using it as well nowadays.
He was performing 2 tracks „live“ together with Jan Vayne at the keyboard & piano. First „serenity“ and after this one „communication“. One of Armin´s first hits.. After this Armin did start his „real“ set and well it was quite hard. Nothing what u could expect if u know his radio show ASOT. Though he did fit the taste of the crowd which were celebrating into final hour of sensation. Unfortunately it was 6 am allready and about 30% of the crowd were allready gone home. But well this was the only bad point about the evening! Maybe it would have been smarter to place Armin after Carl.... But well nevertheless the evening was amazing the prices for the drinks were ok 2.50 E is ok for a coke, water, beer.... and u could also eat pommes and stuff for a „normal“ price. U could chill outside or take a sit in the stadion.
U had always enough space to dance the people were very friendly and u saw almost no drunk or collapsed people. And because of this I think it was a very wise decision to make it 18 + . Something which should be standard at Germany nowadays like it is at other countries! It is just to often that „kids“ dont see the risks of alcohol and druks and after a few hours they lay in a corner collapsed.... ohmy.gif:
Armin did close the evening around 7 am with one of the most wanted tunes right now. „Yet another suburban train“ .The bootleg of Armins „yet another day“ and Tiesto „suburban train“ made evryone dance in the stadion. No one was sitting more evrybody was dancing to the final track of the evening. Definately a moment u want forget this fast! And even if we all wanted to continue for a few hourse the evening was over after 10 hours of fun, passion and sex...
In conclusion I think, that the event was a great success. Not only for Id&t....No also the thousands of party people who had a great evening with some of the founders of electronic dance music like Carl Cox and Sven Väth and some upcoming artists like Disco Boy or Armin van Buuren. The mix of Techno, Trance and House brought something for evryone, even if the part of Techno was the biggest one. And like Id&T germany said.... Sensation white at germany wont be just a copy of the sensation from Holland... No it will be a own event with own Dj´s and atmosphere. And this it was!
So we are looking forward to the next year and who knows... maybe are there going to be more events like this in the future. For instance trance energy or innercity?
