The confirmation of the release of a new In Search Of Sunrise mix compilation, caused a massive discussion on several for a all over the world. On the same time some rumours were spread around about a possible release party. March brougth us the big news: Tiësto was going to release his new ISOS CD at an exclusive Forum Member Album Launch Party on Queens Night in the Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam. Curious about the new compilation, I decided to order my tickets [37,50 euro excl. fee].
Before heading off to Amsterdam by train, the postmen made my day by delivering the new ISOS CD, which I ordered at Dancegrooves. This got me into the right mood for the coming night. At 8:00 PM we took the train to Amsterdam, which was a 2 hour trip. At the time we arrived at the Heineken Music Hall, a huge queue was forming before the entrance. A 20 minute wait got us into the building, which is famous for the acoustics and nominated for an international Pollstar Award. Leaving our coats at the wardrobe, which was free [bags 2 euro], we went to the so-called ‘Black-Box’, the main room.
DJ Mason kicked off the night from 22:00 until 00:00, although he didn't bring his famous electric violin along. However spinning a nice prog liveset with tracks like, Syntraxx – Bliss, Reflekt feat. Delline - Need To Be Loved [Seb Fontaine and Jay P's Type Remix] and Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger [Pete Heller's Stylus remix, got us all moving. While enjoying his set we met up with some friends, before heading to the ‘Postbank Lounge’ where another UKTA-member was waiting: Tim, aka Tiest-o-holic. We had a chat for a while and took a picture [lol]. Back in the main room, MC Stretch was about to begin his little speech, before Tiësto showed up with some nice fireworks.
The first synths of Tastexperiece – Tantrix touched my ears and made me smile; awesome to hear this track live!! I knew that Tiësto was going to play all the tracks of his new compilation plus a list of requests from former ISOS CD’s, made by forum members. Fortunately he combined the new ISOS tracks with the old ones throughout his whole set, which made this party unbelievable. The first two hours Tiësto hitted the decks with a combination of progressive and trance, which really got everyone in the HMH into the ISOS feeling. A personal highlight was the moment he dropped my request Cabala – Dark Blue.
During the intermezzo, Jes Brieden showed up on the stage and OMG she looked hot J. Her live performance of Solar Stone – Like A Waterfall was quite allright, but never sounded that good as the ISOS edit on the CD.
Tiësto started the next hour with one of my favourites: Estuera vs. Re: Locate – Palma Solane. Enjoying the magikal sound within the HMH, I took a closer look at the visuals for this party. A huge variety of lasers created the right atmospehere next to a big disco-ball with a ring of lights. Another plus for the visionals this evening were several huge screens next to the dj-booth and in the ‘Postbank-Lounge’. In the meanwhile Tiësto started to play a bit harder, keeping the ISOS feeling save and warm. The absolute highlight of the evening was the moment he dropped Ernesto vs. Bastian – Darkside of the Moon. Everybody was singing along and dancing their asses off. My girlfriend and I took a short break with some drinks before enjoying the last three tracks of the third hour. Just imagine it is you who hears the following tracks live: Cass & Slide – Perception [Vocal Mix], L.S.G. – Netherworld [Oliver Prime Remix] and Nalin & Kane – Open Your Eyes [Reworked Club Mix].
The next intermezzo was very welcome, as I needed another break. However a short one, as Jes showed up again to perform As the Rush Comes live; in one word amazing! Tiësto was ready for another hour and gave everybody the TIC 1 feeling with the opener: Ian Brown – FEAR [U.N.K.L.E. Remix]. The last hour was full of classics like, Southern Sun, Mercury & Solace, Silence and his new production under the ‘Allure’ alias; The Loves We Lost. I enjoyed all this, while sitting on the stairs at the back of the main room and watching all the people dance on the last sounds of Silence; what a night!!
However the ISOS trip still wasn’t over. As this party was a forum members only party, there was a little encore. Some forum members came up with the idea to create a special thing for Tiësto. Something that showed their appreciation for his music, gigs and performances. It was a book with all the stories of a lot of forum members about their Tiësto experiences. Some of the initiators of this action handed over the book to Tiësto and asked him to play the number one of the request list: Way Out West – Mindcircus. Everybody went nuts, sang alone with the lyrics and danced their asses off.
While many people were leaving the HMH, Mark Norman closed the release party with a two hour set, spinning tracks like Tiësto – Adagio for Strings [Fred Baker Remix], Plastic Boy – Silver Bath and Push – Universal Nation [Montana Edit]. However we didn’t make it to the end of his set though, as both of us were tired like hell.
This night truly was a perfect combination of amazing music, nice people and a fantastic acoustic location. Tiësto showed me again why he deserves to be the number one DJ of the world. Not because of his great mixing, which was quite alright this time, but because of his talent to create a interactive feeling with all the party people.
