Full Version: Link Stealing

Well I must say you have to get your priorities straight on classifing link stealing. You claim because the the password for one of my links was to another website I get banned. MegaUpload is a free service that is provided to users. The uploader does not have the rights to that upload unless they buy a premium link.

I will give an example of a stolen link that goes on this site all the time. Every image that is not uploaded to the users own selected site is link stealing. Now most of the images posted are copyrighted images meaning that no one has the rights to post that image freely unless they are the copyright holder.

Now I did nothing wrong when I posted the link I posted that got me banned from the dl section. You have no right to claim I stole that link because I could have just searched Megaupload for it and the link was not a premium link which means megaupload is the sole provider of the link which means that you have to consult them about that one particular link being stolen.

I am not asking for my privalege back because I should have never lost it in the first place. Until I see a change in the images posted and all the upload sites that host free uploads(how do you know that the person that claims they uploaded it uploaded it?) I am granted my access back to the dl section. You have no right to claim what you did because I just happen to stumble across the link through MegaUpload. It may be coincidental that most are similar to other sies but it is just a coincedence and they happen all the time, correct?

What we mean by no link-stealing is, don't take the credit for a file, that someone else actually took the effort to upload.

You do have some valid points (about the image remote linking), but unfortunately, this is how our forum has been run for the past few years, and up to this point, most seem to accept this rule (apart from the odd few - usually new members who don't know), and they just live with it, so I suggest you do the same.

Like I said, UKTA's been this way since the beginning, and I don't think it's going to change biggrin.gif

Ok, you have your comments, now here are mine.

Over the last 4 years we have had a massive amount of download servers, and all but 2 have been lost due to people putting links up on their site and gaining credit and advertising revenue for them, whilst we are paying, or others are paying for them.

P.O.L.A.R i warned you, then i suspended your access, and you still didnt accept our rules. I personally hate people stealing links, in whatever form with large files, as i know how much it costs to host them.

I gave you plenty of chances, but you let us others source and upload files and then claimed that you had been doing all of that.

And as i also told you, if you put links here from other places, the chances are you put our links elsewhere.

If you choose to disrupt the forum in anyway in retribution for our right actions you will find more restrictions imposed.

This topic is closed, and does not need to be brought up publically, you should have pmed one of us. This kind of thing only disrupts the forum, and causes friction between the people who try and keep this forum a friendly and enjoyable place to post, and those who on post on it.

You have no case to complain about anything in my opinion.
