I got a loan of a pretty good quality digital camera (to take photos of trees, believe it or not rolleyes.gif ), so I said I'd take a pic of the studio aswell...

IPB Image

So, this is where I work, play games, and browse ukta of course hypocritesmiley.png

And yes, it's a mess ... but that's the way I like it 123blush.gif

(Apologies if there's already a 'post a pic of your studio' thread, but I can't find one).
thijsje
looks good biggrin.gif

I don't have a digital camera, but there's also not much to see yet at my place tongue.gif

i see you have the Tannoy 6d monitors (or they the 8d) , i wanted to ask if your satisfied with theyr performance , cus i was planing to purchase a pair of tannoys p8d.

Yup, they're 6Ds. I couldn't really justify the few hundred extra for the 8Ds for the small difference it makes to the 40 to 80Hz range.

And I think they're a stunning monitor btw, it's like I've been listening to music through a paper bag for all these years rolleyes.gif . But of course, now, anything I hear outside of ideal conditions sounds like rubbish. 123thumbdown.gif

You can tune them to the room (there's a row of dip switches on the back for the different freq bands). And the S/PDIF in/thru is very useful too (one of the main reasons I went for this monitor really): I run it (a single cable) into one, thru to another, and thru from that to a freq analysis you see on the right screen ... all with no signal loss or noise biggrin.gif

I have just one gripe with them: I was led to believe that those 'tannoy' buttons on the front (just above the leds) were power switches ... but they're not, they're standby switches. And even in standby, the monitors still use alot of power (you can feel the heat at the back), so you have to reach in around the back to power them off (not an easy thing to do with my arrangement). But that's the only fault I have with them. Would highly recommend them otherwise.

PegaSus
Vinyl is a:

IPB Image

Promo can be Or Vinyl or CD,, it's for "promotion" towards the crowd. smile.gif
So Dj can play them before the release date,

I'm thinking to move my "studio" within a few months to my bedroom, because of the windows here 123thumbdown.gif (i wanna expand some things biggrin.gif ) but i would like to know how that works on such a small table as i also have a very small one blink.gif

How much space do you have approx Thijsje? unsure.gif I was looking at some production desks recently and with a bit of planning as regards the layout, you can get the whole setup into a suprisingly small space.

Gimme a min to find the desks i'm talking about ... back in a sec hypocritesmiley.png

Edit: It's a little bigger than I thought (1.8m wide), might still be a possibility though. See here
thijsje
the space i have is arround 1.20 / 1.40 * 0.50 / 0.60

i might choose for it to do it, but i have to test some things if the atmosphere of my bedroom is the same as my studio right now. I have usual walls now i am downstairs..but if i move upstairs i have sloping walls (see spoiler for example) and it's almost only possible to send the sound to the sloping wall instead of away from it

Click For Spoiler

I want to buy a new pair of speakers, want to buy cubase, a new soundcard and a Korg MS2000... which is not something i want to have in front of a window on the road side rolleyes.gif

But if i move my studio I also need to edit another computer as this one is not my very own... something that also would cost another bunch of euro's (need a new HDD, better memory chips and a new TFT screen if that's everything:thumbdown )

yeah, it's kinda complex tongue.gif
Bricky
Sloping walls are generally a good thing in a studio i think. They pretty much eliminate standing waves and will reduce your costs for acoustic treatment. And don't worry about pointing the speakers towards the wall, it'll be reflected downwards, into the carpet (assuming the floor is carpeted), also a good thing. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
thijsje

what happens with it when i have my bed under the sloping wall ?

oh, i have carpet looking vinyl on the floor tongue.gif

Bed is even better biggrin.gif

Soft surfaces (like carpets, curtains ... and of course beds tongue.gif) absorb sound (which is essentially what you want to do here) and stop it bouncing around the room.

QUOTE

Maybe that's not so good then. unsure.gif But I guess you could get some small squares of carpet and put it on the vinyl in the more open spaces unsure.gif
