Just wondering how much DJ's get piad for a typical club set, not talking huge stadiums or festivals here but on a regular club night.

obviously all will be paid differently but what do you think they get paid on average,

stating say PVD, Tiesto, Armin etc as top earners

markus shulz, matt darey, above and beyond etc as middle earners

when i tried finding this out a few years back i heard that top dj's like oakenfold were charging around £3000 an hour!
i read in mixmag lately though this interview with picotto when he says he's done gigs before where he's earnt so much off some one off parties that he could have bought a small apartment with the money...

Or a speedboat in Piccotto's case!!

Oakie costs £10k for a three hour club set now. God knows how much he commands for a festival.

Ferry Corsten is £5k for two hours and you also have to take Ron Van Gelderen as his warm up jock too but that comes free.

'Dangerous' Dave Pearce is £3k for a two hour club set.

Established resident dj's like Jon O'Bir (pre Radio 1 days), John Askew, Darren Christian, etc come at £500 for a two hour club set.

Local club ressie's are around £300 for a two hour set depending on who they are, where they have played in the past and if they are established producers.

You tend to get clubs working together to bring over international dj's and sharing their expenses, etc.

When I look at the dwindling crowds attending many of the weekly clubnights in the UK I cannot understand how they make any money at all when you look at the star studded line ups.

Anyone stupid enough to pay that for him needs their head examined.

Cant disagree. I was flabbergasted when I found out how much he earns. It must work though for him and the clubs he plays. You could (and I would) say the same about Judge Jules.

Yeah Jules is on something like 4k for a gig. My friend was starting a new nite and he eventually got Ferry with RvG but I'm sure it wasn't quite 5k for them both?! I know he didn't make any profit tho at all from the nite, just good publicity that Ferry came and played a small club in Scotland

I remember reading an interview with Tiesto and he was asked about his cash - all he said was it was handled by someone else but that he knew when he went out he could treat all his friends without having to worry about it. Not bad eh!! Very humble I thought too - not willing to elaborate too much but just that he was quite generous with it

Never heard van Gelderen play so couldnt comment maybe someone can advise?! Ferry and him are certainly £5k for four hours between them though (at least for a first gif at that club).

Bit of a joke too that Oakenfold gets paid so much. There's no disputing that he was a true innovator in his day but he's pretty much lost the plot recently- no disrespect to Oakey fans If i even got £500 for a gig i'd be pretty chuffed, considering that you're basically mixing music that you like, having a drink(if you're so inclined) and getting paid for it to boot. It's a dream lifestyle at the end of the day

well he's worth free... i saw him at Trance Energy and it was ok...

he plays harder stuff right

he got over 50k for tiesto in concert so...

I know that Tiesto got 25000 $ for an event a few years ago. I believe it was Trance energy but I could be wrong.

Though I also know that Tiesto got absolutely nada for his set at Olympia 2004

PvD actually doesnt get soo much money for his set´s. but on the other side he is getting a lot of money for his commercial productions

We r having 4 PvD Videos running up and down on tv right now.

And on the 2cnd Okotober he will play an Exclusive concert in Berlin as anniversy for the fall of the wall.

P.S. I actually get around 200 - 400 euro for a whole night / gig. Not that much if u have to cover the costs of hotel, gas, flight ticket... At least i get the most records for free

here in israel in a few weeks there's a festival in which there will be
tiesto (3 hours set)
infected mushroom (1.5 hours set), pretty known psytrance artists.
astrix (1 hour set) another known psy artist.
offer nissim (1.5 hours set if i remember correctly), voted as number 1 dj in israel last year.
and another few dj's.

sounds very very costy to the producers
about 25 euro to enter, dont have a clue how can they profit something worthwile, but nevermind, i'll be there
