I just had an interesting conversation, where a person told me he doesn't like smokers.
This after i said i smoked myself.
And he inspired me to open this topic...
So how do you feel about people who smoke ?

I don't like smokers
And seriously, i just don't like the fact they smoke when there are other people around, and that they smell

And they should quit not only because it's bad for their health, but also for health of the people who are forced to breathe the smoke from their cigarettes.

You need an extra Option. I dont like people smoking around me, but what they do with their life when they arent is their own business. Most people get to the age of 30 and wish they never started, then after 10/15 years of smoking cant quit. If you ask me its as bad as being an alcoholic. You are addicted to something which is bad for you, and you cant quit.
If they banned it from all public spaces then i wouldnt stink after a night out, or when i went to play pool with my mates. I dont like to get my clothes burnt from twats waving fags around on dance floors or in clubs, and i would rather not inhale a large amount of someone elses exhaled air that is filled with s**t they choose to smoke.
I dont hate smokers. But they cost the economy a fortune in lost man hours, and they cost the nhs in this country even more. And the argument that their tax pays for it is rubbish, because the main reason for people to be admitted into hospital for a serious illness at the moment is smoking related. So if noone smoked hospitals would have a lot more free beds, and equipment

I personally cant understand why anyone would inhale smoke. If you told that to someone that had never heard of smoking. Here have this little stick, you can enhale smoke. They would laugh at you.
I think its time they ban it from public spaces personally. And those who are addicted to it need some help. Its a drug after all, and they have a habbit.
If anyone is offended by my strong views, well they are my views. Nobody can ok smoking. You affect your own health, and others around you.

I wouldn't care if they didn't do it when non-smokers are around, but they do it in most cases and it's really annoying when i'm waiting at a bus stop or something and i always have to smell the smoke around

(sometimes my head starts to ache due to that

) So i don't like them.
And i really hate those who smoke into their little children's face, if they want to die they can go on but they shouldn't kill others

Well in Ireland they enforced a smoking ban in pubs last year, and for someone who doesn't smoke it's much more appealing.
I know that when I lived in student houses, I hated people who smoked. I didn't hate them because they smoked, but because of their ignorance of others by smoking in the house rather than doing it outside, leaving the house smelling so bad. Plus, when I'm a mild aesthmatic, that doesn't particularly help either.
As Fly said, it's probably worse than alcohol as a drug.

You know what scares me about some smokers? They don't smoke in doors, because they don't want the wall papers to get mis-coloured!
Duh! What does it do to your lungs if that's what it does to the wall paper?
Still scarey that some of them don't acknowledge the effect it has on the human body.
But alas, it's their own choice. I'd have a hard time explaining to my 3-year old son, who I love more than anything in this wold, that I'm dying of lung cancer because I smoked for years.

as a 14 year smoker i must say its their choice let them me , if they wanna quit smoking they have to do it on their own , the more you tell them its bad , the worse it is.
how do i know ?
cuz i quit about 8 months ago and still crave it often . i will never start again but for those who dont know what it is and try to tell someone to quit , they should just be quiet cuz it aint easy , trust me

I know people that are ok that smoke and I'm fine with that. I feel sorry if they are friends or even family, but I don't like anyone smoking around me. It makes me feel sick!.
When I go clubbing in Germany I have to wash my hair TWICE to rid it of the infernal smoke stench and oh... my clothes too.
Here in the States it's paradise... no smoking in clubs

I gave up smoking 7 weeks ago after sm oking for 15 years (so it's early days yet ) I love smoking but I love not smoking even more! I don't have to worry about smelling, dying, annoying other people or ruining their health. I look at smokers and I feel sorry for them. It's such a terrible habit! So addictive, so enjoyable yet so disgusting at the same time. Giving up hasn't been too bad but I have used patches, they're great! (and it's better than smoking). Nicotine cravings are horrible. Why do you think smoker smoke? They're so unpleasant that smokers are compelled to smoke despite it being so bad for them and those around them. I think we should feel sorry for smokers. It's a disease. I think banning smoking in public place is good as it will make it easier for smokers who want to stop, and it will give smokers more incentive to stop.

fortunatly you cannot smoke in a public place anymore in this country. no bars, pubs, restuarants etc.
its all good for us no smokers. shame for smokers but hey, they will get over it and it will only help people decide to stop.
its a discusting habit, and wouldnt be half as bad as it is if it wasnt so addictive and people who did it have to do it through addiction rather than just plain choice

smoking in public is being progressively phased out where i live... no smoking in bars or restaraunts. i smoke "pleasant smelling" things such as hookah or mj on occasion, and on very rare drunken occasions i'll smoke part of a cigarette but thats about it.... to each their own i say as long as it is not disrespectful to the people around.
