TO ALL COMPETING DJS

I notice that most of the ones who have already upped their entries have upped in 128kbps mp3, I know it's not in the official rules but it's a reaaaal beuutch having to listen to such an inferior quality.
I'd be really keen to get the entries at a minimum 160 kbps, 192 or higher preferably. Am I the only judge feeling this way?!!?

I'm at a free mixthemix account where 128k is the maximum for dj mixes sad.gif else it would be a 192 for sure, but can't help it m8!

Else I have to use Yousendit again and that sucks even more dry.gif

1 week left to upload your mixes smile.gif
Loopy
I've been busy working with some mash-ups and own productions (a collab with well-known producer).

Hopefully some of those get finished and I get to play in my set.

Heads up, some hot tunes coming from Finland! wink.gif biggrin.gif
Loopy
Oh, I've been pondering this thing. Is there a mix lenght limitation in this contest?

Most of the mixes uploaded so far fits in a 80 min CD.

Forgot to post that in the contest rules poster_oops.gif

Lenght should be about an hour, 80 minutes is too long smile.gif

That wouldn't be fair on all the other contestants. And I wouldn't worry about an "older" set list. Lots of ch00nage to choose from smile.gif

Good Luck to all contestants. May the best DJ prevail.
Muggie
How come that people are dropping out so late and asking for a postpone of the deadline ?

Since the 4th contest we knew there was going to be a 5th, so why not prepare better and earlier to be sure you make it ?

Saves a lot of stress and unnecessary trouble ...

Just my 2 cents

Fully agree with you here, too late is too late, people already knew that the 5th contest would start somewhere in September. I've told this in July or August, so don't complain about the deadline.
DJResemo
Ok guys...I totally agree then... biggrin.gif

I'm upping an older set as I write this...I'm on a 246k DSL line with upload speed of 7kb/sec...so can I just please have like 2 more extra hours after the deadline to complete upping my set...??!!!

Thx...

P.S: About not making previously the sets...well..I'm busy with college and I wanted to make a tracklist with new tunes...not 3 month old tunes..that's why I didn't make a set yet... .

Something just came in my mind. Maybe its stupid, dont know laugh.gif

Why dont u let all DJ´s mix the UKTA CD. And then u choose the one u like most and this one will go on sale.

Would be very intresting to see how each Dj creates a mix of the tracks. wink.gif
And u lower the risk that the winner DJ might be not able to make the mix CD. poster_oops.gif

grtz
Muggie
Why shouldn't a winner be able to make the cd ? That is the least the winner could do for :

- taking up the judges their free time to listen and judge the mixes
- get a free account for a year to share their mixes
- getting the change to get more known by being able to mix the cd if you win

Participating in a contest puts a bit of responsability on your shoulders, a sort of commitment to the things you participate in.

We all knew up front that the winner was to mix the UKTA cd, I think people must see it more as a priviledge to do so then it would be a burden and I think if you want to get something done with your mixing you should make some time to do this.

In other words : set your priorities smile.gif
Black-Hole
For any questions about the UKTA Cd, please contact Addict-In-Trance smile.gif

Well I try to explain in other words wink.gif

Each Dj has his own style and this u can see especially in our mix contest here.

And with "if a Dj cant mix the CD" i ment what do we do if the winner DJ for instance is a house DJ and he has to mix a Techno / Trance CD. Do u think it would be fun for him?

Its not about time, I actually think if a DJ is choosen and he wont mix the CD he is wrong here and should not have entered the contest wink.gif
And for me it would be a honor to mix that CD to show my reputation to this site and thats the reason why i have entered this contest. Its not about getting a name wink.gif

But like Black-Hole said we should discuss this with Addict-In-Trance smile.gif

grtz

i didnt get my mix done in time.... sad.gif

well it was my own fault for not managing my time properly. I apologize for taking up a spot that could have gone to someone else...

Another question about the ukta cd, what if the winning dj only has turntables and doesnt have access to cd decks or an mp3 program, as i believe the tracks for the cd will be in a digital format yes?

-actually I dont think it should matter because it seems that most people either mix with cds aswell as vinyl or mp3s wink.gif

Good question, really don't know the answer at this moment. Maybe Addict-In-Trance knows something more about this issue.

I have to agree with Tommy on this one.

Mixing a CD is very different from a normal dj mix, and many of the entrants wont have the equipment or ability to do it. In particular I mean the vinyl/CD djs, whose skillset is completely different from what will be needed for this.

What happens if one of these people wins?
cjmilner999
well the cd djs can always burnt the tracks to cdr cant they? so we only have to worry about anyone who only has a pair of vinyl turntables
Bricky
I guess I might be on my own on this one, but I don't think you can mix a compilation cd with decks, be they vinyl or cd. It's really a job for a sequencer.

indeed , really well spoken smile.gif

and a word to the dj's who didn't deliver their mix in time...
i'm really angry about this (it will go away in time) but when you signed up you knew what the deadline was , you knew you had the responsibility to deliver your mix in time.
But instead some of those people who signed up neglected their duty and just left spots open wich could've been taken by dj's who really wanted this...

it makes me sad to see this happening.. well better luck next time, and for douba , really good of you to apologise smile.gif
