That is why I want to hear your opinions
And about the mixing.........There are people who prefer a mixed CD and some don't
So I would like to know what people want smile.gif
thijsje
let me and bricky do a nice intro smile.gif

mix cd because then it's possible to get one or 2 more tunes on the CD wink.gif and ask fuzzion to mix the CD. He would be honoured by doing that smile.gif

I thought about the style: what to do if we make it from prog, developping to uplifting trance (BPM from 135 - 140 (142 maybe ? ))
PDM
I'm down for this, and yeah, a mix would be nice.

Just let me know, and I'll submit.

smile.gif
RavekiD
MIXED!!! only! because then tracks won't be full and it's still possible to use them to send to music labels.

style 136-143 bpm.

maybe somebody could create some rules /borders/ for that. Like... length and mastering levels... so all tracks would be usefull to mix them...
douba
definitely mixed cd for me, then the tracks can be heard by a range of important people and some of the tracks may be picked out to be signed.

Sorry to keep talking about dj diamond, but i think it should be like one of his mixes, progressive to start with, then some nice melodic trance, some harder/techy stuff towards the end and finish with a few uplifting tracks. that would be really awesome.

About who mixes it, there are two possibilities:

1) We get a good software dj to do it so that there are no mistakes and it sounds really professional
2) We get a REAL tongue.gif dj to do it, so that it not only showcases ukta's producing talent but also showcases the great turntable talents we have at ukta. smile.gif

I prefer option 2 but that's my opinion, feel free to disagree.
douba
sorry to post twice in a row but i've just thought of another great idea.

in terms of the mastering of the tracks, maybe we could work out some sort of arrangement with "online-mastering.com" to master all the tracks that will be used on the cd to the same levels and then we can advertise that online-mastering did all the mastering on the tracks. that might appeal to them as a business...

prefer option 2 too...

+ the dj who does it has a good demo to hand out to clubs smile.gif
so it would be likely the dj is someone who usually plays the same style

How about a CD with tracks from all UKTA Producers and mixed by one of our finest Dj's... (imo) Dj Diamond!! Was thinking about a CD starting with Progressive and ending with some uplifting trance cool.gif

Ok biggrin.gif
It will be a mixed CD !
Now depending on the tracks that we got we'll see who will get the honour to mix it

defenitly agree that way noboddy can find a chance to rip the tracks and use them for themselves smile.gif (at least not the full versions)

well i think it must be mixed smile.gif

addicted in trance , let me mix it tongue.gif please ... laugh.gif

If you got the lucky number tongue.gif

No.......
We open a poll then were members can vote for the UKTA DJ who will mix it
An extra honour I think biggrin.gif
Patrick-S
yeah smile.gif sounds nice...
guess u can't vote for yourself poster_stupid.gif

indeed, we got a lot of good mixers here smile.gif depending on the style of course, but djdiamond is the first one that comes to my mind biggrin.gif the thing with a mixed CD though, is we need more songs than a full length track CD.

so you guys, get busy biggrin.gif
Abdul
yea a mix would be a good idea. people submit tracks, then we have a mixing competition and decide which one gets to be on the cd.

agree!

We just need a standards specified! It's up tp our moderators wink.gif isn't it?

About tracks uploadin... i would preffer upload them to ftp, so nobody could download full tracks from UKTA users... And only moderators could rewiev our tracks and ask producers to recreate parts of track if needed (mastering or anything like that).

Moderators what do you think about that? wink.gif

wrong !

I have a proof not all mods have that good technicaly trained ears (with all respect to them), but better hand it to one or 2 other participants because they know how to technically listen a tune wink.gif

Quoting a few mods (anonymous) who didn't study trance and cannot judge us on mastering:

i'll take a look in my connections box if there are any ppl close related to labels smile.gif maybe asking ricksta ? unsure.gif

conditions of mastering: as clear as possible, I guess a 320 copy would be the best.. but then we all have to make a 320 copy for the dj who mixes it smile.gif

track lengt: I guess it should be at least dj friendly, no intro versions... maybe only the first tune.. but then we have to make a decision who does the intro tune. My idea is making the track length arround 8/9 minutes and take arround 45/60 seconds with no melody (so only drums and bass) to keep it dj friendly smile.gif

that's long enough for sure,, smile.gif ,, and well about the Dj Friendly thing,,, your a dj or not,, come on.. mix it rolleyes.gif tongue.gif
thijsje
I certainly would like to do, but these days I concentrate more on the producing side.. which costs me enough energy btw
Patrick-S
aren't all trance tracks "dj friendly" ? i mean i haven't really found one trance track that i can't mix smile.gif
only have that with techno sometimes... but there are no boundaries with mixing techno wink.gif
thijsje
well, if you take a tune like brickaloch - after the silence, that's a tune which isn't that dj friendly.... which doesn't say it's a bad tune

a dj friendly tune means the tune has at least something like 45 seconds of only kicks with a developping percussion and a simple bass (imo one chord).

Yeah I agree, just make a tune, no rules, it just has to be something related to trance... if you are a good dj, you can mix everything wink.gif

I also made a 70 minutes mix with 20 house-tunes lately tongue.gif
PDM
that is quite impressive. Diamond.

Hmmmm I can make the intro, well it depends of when do we have to hand in the song.
thijsje
The idea about the intro I had is to make something like Armin van Buuren - Prodemium/Precious rolleyes.gif

something that tells a story, you know wink.gif

...back to the cd.

what are some ideas about the cd? how would it be distributed, would it be sold? would the money raised, go to improving ukta's facilities or divided amongst the dj's and producers involved. could a record label become involved to distribute it? getting a record label involved would probably limit the profit for ukta but would undoubtadely help promote the cd. I mean when it all comes down to it, we're not doing it for money. We're doing it to promote our music and to promote UKTA. So i dont see why we shouldnt get a record label involved. Maybe someone like Songbird that did Tiesto's ISOS4. That would be good publicity..

Anyway, discussion open.

i agree to you, douba....

are there any ppl on UKTA related to labels or got contact with label managers ?
RavekiD
agree label would be nice!

one more think is about style.... r u sure that it should be uplifing... what about tech trance? or something in style of "nature one" like track for big arenas?

what we decide about it?
