even though every1 here pretty much hates him, i dont, i remain a loyal fan since 98/99. just wanna know when you all heard about this guy, and more importantly, when you all started disliking him. hey, if there's a "when did u hear about armin topic" there should be a "when did you hear about tiesto" topic biggrin.gif
Sprigan

can't understand why everybody hates him , i'm not a fan ... but i like his work and his track selection.
and well the first time i heard about him was around 6 years ago smile.gif
and whoever says his latest album sucks ... well that's lame cause all of ya have been expecting to much from him . he just makes nice music .
PegaSus
well maybe that Isos mix of Silence... .or theme from Norefjell ... .
never been a huge Tiesto fan (producing wise) ,, but i brought ISOS3.. wub.gif
although pretty strange this,, i really love some of his remixes!! but his own productions can ruin his goodness for me.. wink.gif
ImpactPlayaz
I first heard about Tiesto when I first heard Theme From Norefjell in 1998. My real interest in him however was when I heard Gouryella for the first time, and found out that it was he and Ferry Corsten who was behind it. Then with him being part of Kamaya Painters, and hearing Endless Wave for the first time, it really endeared me to him.

I started hearing some of his sets in 2000, which were really impressive. Then the remix of Silence came along which really propelled him, and a year later Suburban Train was born, and still remains one of my favourite tracks today.

But after that, something changed. He started to go down the tech-trance route, which I wasn't keen on. Apart from his remix of Conjure One - Tears From the Moon, I wasn't that impressed with any of his productions after that. His DJ sets were still pretty good, but that was all I was interested in hearing from him.

The turning point for me was the release of Just Be. I bought both vinyl samplers and really wished I hadn't. I wasn't impressed by any track on them at all. As a consequence, once Tiesto started littering his sets with his own productions, it made his sets a lot less appealing.

So now I'm really struggling to find the magic with a Tiesto set than with one from a few years ago.

Addict-In-Trance
His Energy 2000 set was the first thing I heard from him
And then with Gouryella and Urban Train
Imo he is still the best DJ as he can move the crowd like no one else can biggrin.gif

Did you ever see Oakie move the Cream crowd during his 99 residency? If not, you should wink.gif
Tommy
Im with Thjis since Magik 1. A dutch friend gave me his mix and well i was wub.gif .

And i have to say i didnt like electronic music at all before. For me it was all a bum bum tongue.gif

Later i went to a gig of him i fall in love with his style and im still in love with it, even his productions are not the same anymore like to times of Allure or Kamaya.... As a Dj he is the Nr1, no one can perform like he does. I saw Armin 2 times this year and i will next week again and no Armin might be good but not as good.
Actually id say there are maybe only 2-3 people who could beat him some day, Carl Cox, Ron van Der Beuken or Ferry..

Anyways because of him i did start to listen to electronic music and also because of him i did start dj-ing wink.gif

i could never ever hate tiesto, if it wasn't for his brilliant track selection and style, i would never have found my way into trance. The first ever trance cd i listened to was Magik 6, it's still my favourite set ever. He's just a brilliant dj, who was massive in a time when producing wasn't necessary to be sucessful in the industry. Nowadays it is a must, and with better and better producers/dj's coming out (eg. phynn, above & beyond, menno de jong) we're forgetting why we love tiesto. not for his productions, but for his superhuman way to pick the best trance the world has to offer.

hopefully he can show the world what trance is, but he definitely needs to work on that dry.gif

My stories a funny one but the first time i heard of Teisto i was actually in a taxi/cab on the way to go see him. He was in Melb and i wasn't in the trance scene so not knowing who he was i just thought he was a random DJ. Anyway once i heard the magic he was playing i was in disbeliefe. HE WAS UNREAL! He got me into the trance scene and from that day on trance has played a huge part of my life so i thank him foe making me see what the music is trully about.
It was funny though all these people making a fuss over a guy who i just thought was an ordaniry person

poster_oops.gif you learn from your mistakes hahaha (and now i Love Tiesto!!)

Goodness Tiesto - I would have to say that because of Tiesto, I began my quest for seeking all things beyond the local Top 40 tunes that I heard on the radiowaves. I remember my first ever outdoor gig - it was called Two Tribes and Tiesto played right before Mauro Picotto - whose music I was familiar with thanks to ATB's (M.O.S.) mix of Clubbers Guide to Trance 1999.

It was this night that I first heard the big tunes like - M.O.R.P.H - Maximum Overdrive, NU NRG's - Dreamland, and Tiesto's - Suburban Train, and I was like WOW, I never knew music could be so big - I guess I was becoming aware of the so-called "Anthem" experience.

I've got most of Tiesto's commercially produced albums, and many live-sets from around the World. I've seen him 4 times live now; the 1st experience mentioned above, then the next 3 in a matter of months - New Years Eve on the beautiful Sydney Harbour under the Harbour Bridge, 3 days later at an outdoor gig back at home on the Gold Coast, then again in May last year with Pete Tong as part of the Found@Thirst Heineken tour in the Australian version of a SuperClub - the Family in Brisbane. I gotta tell you, the indoor experience was by far the best - perhaps because Tiesto's set was only an hour or so, rather than his lengthy 3 hour sets - which tend to lose me. With his shorter set, he had to be quite tight with the experience he was delivering, something he seems not so good at compared with the likes of Armin, JOOF - only a couple of a huge list of possible examples.

However, I wouldn't mind experiencing his live performance in his home country, say @ the Gelredome Stadium in Arnhem - that'd be a buzz!!!

Would like to know if anyone was there during TIC 2003 in Gelredome, Arnhem. If u ever been there you'll love the guy forever.

Also thought that his set at Disneyland, Paris was pretty o.k. as almost every dj around the world copied his tracklist afterwards... thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I still rate Tiesto as one of my favorite DJs regardless of what people say about him

Liked Ferry Corsten (around 96-97) then I read somewhere about him working with

Tiesto. Then brought one of the Magik albums andnever looked back since wub.gif

I don't really remember my first time listening to Tiesto; however, I do know this was back around 98 or 99. At first, I don't remember liking his music too much. Maybe it was because I was a little young and didn't understand it yet. Later, I grew with the music or the music just grew on me...today, I'm a huge fan and i'm looking forward to Tiesto in Concert! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif thumbsupsmileyanim.gif thumbsupsmileyanim.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
