Fly
It has come to my attention that a number of users are unhappy about the forum.

Now its time to have your say without fear of having your post edited, or being flamed.

Please constructively tell us what you like, dislike, and what you feel needs to be changed and added to the site.

A few examples for you:

"I feel the moderators are too heavy handed, and this can cut good discussions short"

"Senior Members can be possesive, and as a new member i feel that i shouldnt be posting on their forum"

Hopefully we can then make this a place you love so much its your web browser start page.

So tell me how you feel about how we are doing at UK Trance Alliance.
Fly
Just for information. The site is currently receiving around 1500 unique visitors a day. Down on around 2000 3 months ago. Mainly due to domain issues, and server problems. Which are now a thing of the past.

Forum daily post numbers are constant, however this is boosted by the liveset area which has popular live tracklist threads.

UKTA is now better placed on google, yahoo and msn and we receive a large number of daily hits from search engines.

I am looking at more ways to develop the torrent section, including personally seeding large numbers of classic sets, and new sets, which will be also linked to from the website.

The mp3 store is gradually picking up, and we are now one of the largest affiliates for trackitdown.net. Please buy your tracks from our store, not directly from their site. It costs the same price, but we benefit from the sale.

I am always thinking of new areas to add to the forum. I have been thinking about creating country forums, a humour forum, a also a few others, but help on new ideas are always welcome.

I have registered trancetorrents.co.uk and may develop a torrents front site to drive traffic to this site.

Well I can honestly say that besides MarkusSchulz.nu (which consists majorly of people from here), this is the only forum that I'm willing to participate in. The reason? Because of the friendly and family-like community.

To those who are unhappy or are afraid to express that they are unhappy, just try to have fun. Get involved more with the discussions. I know that when I joined here and when I posted opinions on things hardly anyone batted an eyelid on them, but the more you get involved and have positive things to say, the more people will notice you and the more credit you will get for it.

And as for the liveset discussions, I would love to see more people tune in to the shows live and discuss their hotughts live on the forum, it's really great fun.

Fly I think the classic livesets are a fantastic idea, and would be a great compliment to the new livesets that are already shared. And maybe they could be a forum exclusive, which would attract more people to the forum.

Admittedly, the loss of sharing ASOT has hurt the forum, I don't think there's any doubt about that but that's due to reasons beyond our control. But it still doesn't stop us from discussing our thoughts on the show and what the big tunes are that are being featured.

I suppose as a Review Team member I could throw this suggestion out. Is there anything not being catered for in the Review Section that you would like reviewed? I'm pretty sure the Team would try their best to review different things to the best possible standard.

Hopefully, when the summer's over and people start going back to school / college etc. then things may pick up again. smile.gif

I don't like too long offtopics and too many spam posts wink.gif

Also, i'd like to see less users who think that freedom of speech means they can throw s**t on other members.

well, I think everything is good iheartukta.gif iheartukta.gif iheartukta.gif

but things we maybe can change is getting our names known by ppl outside ukta... just like every trancer knows t.nu and TA, they should also know UKTA

for the rest of the forum: it's 99% ok wub.gif iheartukta.gif

i guess the topics arent that interesting as when i first got here. especially in the music discussion. n e ways. im sure we can grow bigger. there has to be a way for active posters somehow be "rewarded" or like long time members that have alot of posts to help motivate new people to post more. or a way to unite longtime members more. i mentioned this before but it sounded to hard, yes bit torrent is taking over but not in this forum, what about a hub, i have DC++ so like making a hub public and having moderators monitor it, so we can share music amongst ourselves. i connect to homeofmusic and its HUGE!!!!! and they enforce activity in forums or else you wont be able to participate in the hub.

Without wishing too repeat too much of what I said previously here:
http://www.uktrancealliance.com/forum/inde...showtopic=17853
These are my main gripes:

Whilst I appreciate the need for moderators I feel that in some cases their contributions would be better measured in their inactions rather than their reactions. (A little power is a dangerous thing).

I'm not going to name names but there is one moderator in particular who does seem to have a bit of an attitude problem, the majority of their comments/actions are very negative and do not help the general ambience and friendliness of the site.

All in all I hope that this thread opens up peoples ideas and feelings, I love to see and read a good discussion and hear other peoples ideas. If it's one thing I've learned in life it's that I'm not always right and its listening to what other people say has helped me get on no end.

noops
Bricky
Judging from another thread, it seems that this place has changed considerably recently, but I joined the forum post that change, so I haven't missed whatever it is you all seem to miss now unsure.gif

This is an excellent forum and community, easily my favourite trance-wise. There's a general wish and willingness to help here that I just love. I've met some great people here, and I'm gonna stick around for some time to come wink.gif

Have to say that I'm not really happy about the over-zealous modding either ph34r.gif. Modding is a very difficult and delicate job, requiring a level of tact that not just anybody has. Personally I think a thread should only be modded if
(i) it's somehow illegal (mp3 sharing etc.),
(ii) likely to cause offence (sexist, racist, or just plain disgusting), or
(iii) likely to damage the forum in some way.

Generally speaking the mods here do a remarkable job, treading that fine line between being effective and being offensive.

I might add that non-mods have a role to play here too. Posting stuff that's specifically intended to provoke the mods is pointless and pathetic. dry.gif

Moving on from the modding thing (which is like a cloud over the forum for the last week or two) .... Producers. I joined the forum in the beginning because there was a competition running. If there were more competitions running, I think you'd get more producers here ... and I mean much more competitions, maybe one every two months. Likewise, dj competitions will bring djs. And the prizes don't have to be big (although it'd help) ... just being acknowledged as the winner would be enough.

That's my 2 cents anyway.

just a quick thing. A sharing hub would consist of hundreds of gigs of copyright material. And we cant allow anything that is illegal to be linked to the site. Otherwise we wont be able to forge good link with the industry, and we will get more legal action threatened against us.
stevo
well about noticing stuff... i notice i always see the same people posting everywhere....
for example Tranceheini, pegasus, bpmkid, miss.alexandra, impactplayaz, and others too (but i won't name them all smile.gif ) and myself too...
what i mean with this... you create conversations and discussions with same people over and over... i like it ofcourse smile.gif but i don't think mods like it... coz it ends up in spamming or whatever they call it... and mods tend to stop it..
like peggie said: the fun is over then... that's why i have him in my msn list wink.gif to spam there alot tongue.gif in exchange wink.gif haha

i'm especially active in non-music related topics and little bit dl once in a while (i'm honest, it's not much) but i have to admit, since there's no more ASOT or dl-section... that there were less people online... and topics get less active...

for me... when topics get less active... i check less on ukta... i used to watch 15 times a day... now it's like 5 times.. and i also post less... (but i'm still allmost every day in top 10 posters)

but regardless of all this... i really love this site smile.gif it has everything i want.. i don't want to download anything from internet from unknown sites... look...
example: i wanted to download Ice Age (walt disney) once downloaded, it appeared to be hard porno unsure.gif i was so shocked about it. you can't thrust anymore what you're downloading... even tracks containing virusses or internet links that are discusting...

what i mean is: this forum is so well protected, when there is a link posted, that i'm sure not finding something horrible or discusting... (and if it does, then a mod is removing the link) there i think they do great jobs in protecting the forum.. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif coz everything you see here, is sane...

and regardless the downloading part... talk to people from other countries is always fun. not just 'other people' from other countries... but other people like you (coz you all like trance) that's why i keep stay here on ukta... (the only forum i'm active on) iheartukta.gif smile.gif

maybe it's better then to do a big part of the livesets downloads away and use the server for a internet radiostation ?

it's just a suggestion, but we could ask our own dj's to do some livesets, our own producers can produce tunes and maybe we can get it that far we get short commercial breaks to save up money for guestmixes by the bigger dj's smile.gif

i'm glad you guys have realized this as well and that its not just myself. i am aware of the many legal implications Fly had to go through for this site already, and yes it can't be helped but it is a huge shame. respect to you fly for going through this, i know its tough and i do appreciate everything this forum has given to me so far. smile.gif

as far as the future goes.... who knows...

to be honest i'm not that fantastic at finding the latest trance names, i usually scan this site for the occasional new track or an interesting music discussion post. this used to be my site for finding out new talent, but now that has gone, i'm not sure where to go sad.gif

i would love to suggest ways round this but alas my mind will not allow me to. its a little difficult too as i'm not too aware on flys complete situation here, like whether hes changed the majority of things on this site due to financial, technical or legal issues?

you guys here are the best.. hopefully this site can now only get stronger iheartukta.gif

Addict-In-Trance
I'm going away and a lot of things are happening to the forum ohno-smiley02.gif

I've noticed indeed myself that a lot of members are a bit unhappy at some moves made for the site
And most of them are not to hurt the members but simply to keep the site legal

ASOT isn't allowed to be shared anymore just because The Radio Department contacted Fly that he shared them for free
He had to remove them or legal actions where taken
But most of the members didn't read that, they just start to moan about it.
Do you all want to keep ASOT on this forum and take the risk of being closed ??
I don't think so wink.gif
And there are more things that I have noticed.

Since the moment I have joined this site this is the best forum that I have found
No flamewars etc......
But with every forum you'll get 1 or 2 people who are looking for trouble, you can't prevent that
During my absence I saw that more members where spamming or attacking other members
Even some senior's huh.gif

Some members just don't realise the time and effort that are made in getting the site where it is now

Just that some actions are taken to make the site better and some members are moaning that it isn't right to do.
I can't understand the reason why they start to complain, as the reason why is clearly stated in the announcements.
Only some of the members don't read them
And if people are having problems with that they can contact us moderators or admins.
Nothing happened, nobody contacted us......only they start complains in numerous topics and we mods had to delete those posts.
And then the member starts to complain about the post deletion.
This forum is about people who love to discuss about trance and other types of EDM
We still share the sets, we now have a MP3 store where you can buy your latest Mp3's
But the forum itself is for discussion smile.gif

Now lets hope that we all can go back were we where and keep this place the best trance forum of this planet iheartukta.gif

a good suggestion. And one i looked into. Actually lovetheweekend.com has a few members from here spinning weekly. And ill be adding the radiostream back to the top of the forum linked to lovetheweekend.coms stream. And they always welcome members to offer sets for broadcast, and tracks.

I cant afford to run a shoutcast server however, have a look around at specialist shoutcast server companies. It would cost me hundreds each month. So as i say, we kind of do have a shoutcast with lovetheweekend.com

So you think we should have a "radio stream shout out forum" ? which is seperated away from the liveset discussion. As at the moment streams are posted and discussed live in the liveset discussion forum, but we could do that.

We still share the latest dj mixes, with tracklist, so you can still find the latest tracks in those livesets. Thats what i do anyways. I just put the sets on my mp3 player and listen to them in my car.

As for changing the site. Here is a quick story of the history of the site.

We started off around 3 years ago. I originally started the site to host pictures from uk tranceaddict nites out. Hence the UKTA bit, when the site used to be uktranceaddict.

Then we started sharing tracks, with the help of turbotrance. This is obviously when they site took off. However we were soon asked to not share various artists tracks, and ended up moving away from the sharing of copyright material. And we started sharing dj mixes.

We also added the forum About 2 years ago. We allowed people to share full mp3 tracks and dj mixes for other members to download. This was when we saw the biggest growth again. But we were contacted and threatened with legal action over allowing the illegal distribution of copyright material. So we eventually closed that area.

The final thing only a month or so ago was the removal of ASOT, again after being threatened with legal action.

So now we are a fully legit website. And we have our mp3 shop to sell tracks, etc.

We still share all of the latest dj mixes via 2 700mb download servers, and also via torrents.

I hope that explains things a bit wink.gif
Fly
the main change for the forum is a drive to make it about discussion, and not for leeching. Which is why you dont automatically get access to the sets shared on the forum. All sets are shared soon after on the site. And we have tried to drive the leechers to the website, and everyone who wants to discuss trance to the forum. This has led to a downfall is visitors, but hasnt affected posts dramatically, its just we dont get as many leecher members coming daily here.

So hopefully its almost a new start for the forum. But without that draw of downloading, or getting something for free, it wont attract as many new people to sign up.

trance ( and his industry) is going trought a period of new evolution and, as i see it, it will be kind of crucial: trance events like id&t still attract thousands of people, and i notice a changing attitude towards trance again here in belgium. Trance becoming mainstream (meaning commercial, as mutch numbers produced the past months are already sounding to me) is something that i wouldn't really like

but to remain on topic again: i always follow what happens in the dj section, and try to also spot the interesting treads in the other sections. I think that uktrancealliance still manages to keep a good combination between the number of members, and still managing to have an own identity in the forum ( also because of the many subforums that each have its own set of active posters)

so for me there isn't going mutch wrong, i really like the idea of a own shoutcast radio, but as i know somebody who owns a few proffesional shoutcast radios i also know the costs etc involved with it. I still think mutch evolution can be made in this direction however.

i still have mutch things to say, but seeying the lenght & oftopicness of my post i will keep it to these few points and try to become a lil bith more active again on the forum itself wink.gif iheartukta.gif

well i love this forum the way it is wub.gif
sure the mods get out of line sometimes and people flame ocassionally so what we all have bad days and i dont take it personally at all tongue.gif
i dont think though that they should close topics just like that sometimes some of us want to get in to the auction as well let it run for a day or so laugh.gif
as far as spamming that would be my only problem at this point ranting.gif
example :

as soon as you restricted new users to reply in order to gain acess to the downloads it did 2 things for us
#1-a lot more ppl reply in all sections of the forum
#2- a lot of those replies are nothing more then spam, many of those replies iheartukta.gif just made to get the post count ranting.gif
i honestly think fly you should come up with different idea to make ppl post willingly not to just gain permission to d/l sets and then they disapear again just like now few months back there all kind of newbies posting but now they all gone mad.gif i know why because they must have gained that permission thats not the way to get community moving ppl should post on free will not just to d/l music
other then that i love all you guys i am as addicted as anyone else here wub.gif

I'm trying to get the UKTA CD competition running again
But I need to know for sure that enough people are going to produce a track
wink.gif

I've not much time these days, but I'm always ready to produce some track for UKTA. wink.gif

In fact, I also joined the forum because of the competition first.
However, I'm gonna stay with UKTA, because I like it here. iheartukta.gif

Hy guys! I'm writing for the first time in this forum, but i had been joining for 6 months ago! OH... well i think that uktrancealliance is teh best site of free dj mixes and if he wasn't he i think i was blind and dying in pain not having what i need for my soul, for my ears, for my spirit, the POWER OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC that is my life.
By the way i think i'm the biggest fan of Paul van Dyk in the world and for the first time in my life i saw him live in my country, in Romania at Bucharest.I was expecting and praying for this event for about 5 years and i wasn' t dissapointed at all of what he was putting on the decks in my country. It was a dream come true i think and nothing compares with what i felt at that moment seeing, playing and enjoying his top of the line tracks in a whole new perspective i have never heard before!!! thumbsupsmileyanim.gif It was amazing what had he done with us at that day. PvD was mixing tracks from Jose Amnesia-Second Day, Luminary-Wasting, Whiteroom-Someday,etc and i was very impressed of what i heard from the speakers! So Cool, So Powerfull,So PvD!!! biggrin.gif I just hope if u could help me getting somehow that mix from that night by posting it to uktrancealliance.com 'cause i'm dying for it!!! laugh.gif I must have that mix whit him. He was mixing at Roman Arena, Bucharest, Romania for 3 hours and i'm just asking u if u could take that mix from that day for me, and for every trance fan in this world!! You can write me at trancey_spacey@hotmail.com and say to me an aswer at my request. Thank u all and see ya soon!!! biggrin.gif

First I joined the forum for ASOT downloads.
I was only reading topics during first month here. Well I prefer reading (and having a good laugh biggrin.gif) instead of writing. It takes me some time to put my thoughts together. tongue.gif That's why I'm always late smile.gif
Then Fly made post limit to gain access to downloads area. So I wrote some posts and got involved. I didn't stop after that point, I enjoyed writing.
This forum is the best community I've ever joined. There are so nice and interesting people here. wub.gif You can talk almost about everything and you won't be punished.
This friendly atmosphere keeps me here. A day without UKTA is a bad day. I'm now addicted for sure and so my girlfriend is becoming jealous. love.gif

There's only one thing that I can complain rolleyes.gif

Sometimes when reading topics and replies they tend to be from the same people all the time making the forum rather 'clicky', sometimes I feel in contributing I am interrupting a personal conversation between moderators/and their friends. It's become like 'them and us' and I don't feel part of the 'clan'.

And I agree with that. It's hard to get inside in the beginning

Thanks for your attention

UKTA is the best forum ever, because everyone is so friendly and everyone talks about music.. not many sites that do that.. well i'm sure trance addict do
Patrick-S

As I rarely post a reply I do read posts of reviewed tunes as it kept me uptodate with the trance scene. Because of this I have grown very fond of TRANCE music and will add it to sets of radio broadcasts I presented. As things change and they always change I look forward to more reviews and comments on tunes UKTA members feel are must have tunes. In other words I would check posts and see what is listed as there favorites tunes and give them a listen no review then I gave it a pass.
Well thats all I have on that as most times its either a very predictable riff or it is someting original and worth a listen.Hope this helps.
Cheers

i have something to add as well fly huh.gif

we discussed it before and although you clearly stated its not ukta fault its becoming an issue at least for me ph34r.gif

i do not use anti virus its slows down pc way too much i do however use banner killing software and i have no problems ever anywhere for the most part but as you already informed there is clearly a problem with certain advertising that runs through ukta ph34r.gif

i have caught it again just about an hour ago and its upseting me now as its 3rd time in 2 weeks ph34r.gif this is the only webpage i had opened and it did it again same s**t as always i could not write down any details as my pc simply shut down and the only way to fix it is restore it hypocritesmiley.png

luckily previous 2 times taught me a lesson of backing up my fresh copy of windows so restoring only takes about 45 minutes now but still this is bulls**t ph34r.gif

i am not saying i am going to stop coming here but this has got to stop as its clearly coming from here i think we should get into it a lot deeper as i am not planning on restoring my pc once a week any longer mad.gif

please address this issue properly all i can tell you is that my wallpaper changes into some s**t that says my pc is infected and it also continuesly instructs you to install some f**ked up spy removing software. it disables administrative menu as well as overall performance of pc. it will not allow to delete any files or change wallpaper and restart takes about 15 minutes. yes its that bad and it has to get fixed somebody plz help me get rid of this f**king bulls**t
please excuse my language but this is simply horrible to deal with on constant basis blink.gif

thanks for your attention bye1.gif
Fly
can you use firefox for me, and see if you get the same problems with that, as i can diagnose the problem otherwise
