Dutch (very very very good)
French (very very good) my mum is french and my gf as well
English (very very good) how could i communicate with you guys without it??
German (meh...) i had this 4 years in school... was pretty good in it... understand writing and speaking... but speaking it myself is asking for troubles )
Japanese (i still study that! it's hard!!) i'm not really good at it.. i just can say who i am, asking about time, dates, introducing.... everything you need to seduce woman in short time )

well English ofcourse,, don't have a language head,,,.
can speak a little little bit german.. like the language,,, some nice words
and you can scream it very nice

1. Swedish - mother tongue
2. English - average
3. German - understands if spoken slowly, talking is worse but I do know some since I studied it for 6 years.
4. Norwegian - understands. and if I speak Swedish norwegian ppl will most prolly understand me back.

I know a bit German, only the basics like but ..well.. it stills counts....doesnt it?

Hungarian (Magyar) - mothertongue

English - how should I say that? Quite good? Intermediate level? Average? Anyway this is what I can speak the best .

Dutch - if someone speaks Dutch fluently, I understand it most of the time but speaking it is a bit more difficult due to my vocabulary (I can handle the pronunciation ). But I'm moving along quite well towards the intermediate level .

Norwegian - I've just started to learn it on my own so I just know some of the basics. (Thanks to trance lova as well .)

Fluent in English, Irish and French, and starting to learn German.

I'm not surprised about your Norwegian . You must be aware of Danish too because it seems it's not so far from Swedish and Norwegian. Is that so?

You're so lucky! I envy those so much who have a mothertongue similar to a couple of other ones.

Dutch people: Dutch, English, German is not a problem for most of them.
Belgians: Flemish/Dutch, French, English, maybe German
Norway-Sweden-Denmark have similar languages and there's English too.
Ireland: Irish, English, French.
etc...

Hungarian is so unique. I know not any other languages which is just a little bit similar. It's not fair!

Nowadays if we talk about business, probably we should learn Chinese too in a couple of decades .

But back to you: Irish too??? That's awesome! I'm pretty much interested in that one as well. How much is it something else than English? Is it possible to learn it somehow? (probably internet links or something?)

correct mate.. I could have written danish as well cause I understand it too.. not as good as Norwegian tho so I left it out. Danish is much harder for us strangely enough both Danish and Norwegian ppl understand us Swedes.. and we have sometimes severe trouble understanding them back. I wonder why.. could it be that we are more stupid? one more thing.. ppl living in the south of Sweden (close to Denmark) understand Danish better than, lets say.. what I do. Danish to me is just like u talk with a big potato in your mouth. Thats what we joke about in Sweden.

No, not at all. Actually it's very rare if someone speaks Dutch . Older people (but sometimes students as well) have problems even with English. English and German are the most popular here, some students learn French, Italian or Spanish. Dutch seems to be exotic .

I'm just in love with the Netherlands (not because of the music itself ) and some years ago I decided to learn the language too. I'm a little bit freak in this case. I like special languages and found Dutch very interesting. Lately I do the same with Norwegian, and at the same time I go to the lessons of a native Dutch while I have business English at school. I'm starting to mix up the languages sometimes .

Aren't Hungarian and Finnish from the same language family?

Of course Icelandic is something else. Finnish is unique too. I've been thinking about getting to know it a little bit but English, Dutch and Norwegian is completely enough for me now .

By the way: Finnish and Hungarian are considered to be originating from the same roots. If it is explained by an expert you can recognise some similarity.

The good thing about Norwegian and Dutch is that I understand Flemish too (but the accent is totally confusing sometimes) and if I reach a higher level at "norsk", probably I can understand Danish and Swedish too (in writing I mean) .

I was writing the answer during your post . Actually if I hear Kimi Raikkonen speaking in an interview it's impossible to understand it. They wouldn't understand me either. There's a huge difference between these languages in writing as well as in speaking. They might be from the same language family but it seems as if they were two totally different languages.

But maybe if I got some insight into Finnish I could find similarities. Don't know...

Besides jerman i speak also inglisch. I sink I can spiek it good. Have it haved in skool and too in my studium also.
