What was illegal about sharing teh sets before now? Or is the radio station just complaining and threatening? It's a great pity.
Bascially, since the start of this year when ID-T dumped A State Of Trance, Armin signed a deal with The Radio Department to syndicate the show internationally. Digitally Imported came along and offered quite a bit of money to beat off competition from ETN and obtain exclusive online rights to broadcast the show. ASOT is also licenced to a few international radio stations.
Since TRD now own the rights to the show, they decided to put a stop to sites offering ASOT and other TRD shows such as John Digweed being downloaded and distributed for free, hence the reason why UKTA had to stop offering it as a weekly download.
Furthermore, the Armada website is now offering the chance for users to stream episodes of ASOT for a fee, which gives them access to the show before it is broadcasted on DI. Problem with that however is the highest stream is only 128K.
I think that until The Radio Department get their heads together and offer the original source files to download for a fee, people will still rip and distribute the shows while they still can.
