Hey, first of all thanks for reading.
I recently got this soundcard, and I'm getting strange static noises through my headphones.
I got the headphones plugged to the 1/4" outputs through some adaptors, but then I realized they were signal outputs, and the sound card does not have the power to support any headphones directly, or so it seems.
Could that be the problem for tha static noise? does it mean that I wil have to get an amplifier just to get headphones working right with no strange noises?
Please help, I never thought getiing a pro sound card would give me so many problems.
Also, I disabled the standard sound card, but the scheme sounds aren't played by my EMU, how can I make the EMU play them? or is it not possible.
The instructions for installating the EMU sound card says that I should uninstall any other sound card I have before installing this one, but the standard that came with my PC can not be uninstalled since it is attached to the motherboard itself, What can I do there?, could this be a reason for getting static noise through my headphones as well?
Thanks in advance, and please, please, help me out
Right uninstal the current sound card that you just purchased, remove it from your pc. Then go into the bios. When you boot up your pc it will say how to enter the bios, then have a look around, and it will say that you can disable the bios in there, it has a series of on/off functions. Just disable the sound card via the bios, save the changes, then put the new soundcard back in, instal it, and that might make things easier. Then we can try fixing something else if thats not the problem. But im 90% sure it is, as it will cause conflicts. The only other reason i can think of for static is that the headphones you have are old and not making a good contact, or that the leads in your headphones are slightly wanr and when in the wrong position cause static.

Fly his answer must do the trick indeed,,,, but EMU cards are made by Creative now, so the software must be the same as the Audigy i guess,,, there was an option in the installing software, they asked if you want the output to be Digital or Analogue.... you had to chose Analogue... dunno if you understand what i ment.. but it gives some weird noises if i put them on Digital.
oow f**k,, nevermind that can't be it.. sorry.
How do I go into my Bios with Windows XP?

How do I go into my Bios with Windows XP?
Bios has nothing to do with the OS

When your PC is booting after urning the power on there's should be a message displayed telling which key to press to enter the bios (it's F2 here).
Yeah, in mine is F10.
Now I go to the PCI Device menu, I can see Onboard and Slot devices, I see the Onboard Audio Device but there is no disable option, instead there is an IRQ number equal to 9, which I don't undertand, I press the right arrow and the number changes to 5 and then 3 and then 9 again, I don't wanna experiment with this because I don't know what an IRQ number is.
The thing is, there is no disable option anywhere.
Also, I'm now using an amplifier, and still I get that stupid noise once in a while.
My headphones are brand new, bought them 3 months ago, and they are a Sennheizer 280 Pro, special for audio monitoring, so I don't think is because of the headphones.
