Is it me or is this forum being overrun by prog trance addicts. I never see or hear much about quality uplifting trance no-more, ie trance styles like cosmicman, unknown source, airbase...
Or is it just that no one is producing it as much anymore? sad.gif
Michcio
In the first place define what you mean by progressive trance wink.gif

look at fuzzions style and i think u get what i mean. basically all that slow stuff that, ok might sound good, but doesnt get u up and jumpin! lol wink.gif
Bricky
I'd have to say that I think it's simply because there isn't as much good 'straight' (i.e. non-progressive) trance out there any more.

Lots of people (me included) are heading the progressive way, simply because it's usually easier to find better progressive.
Pinto
What is your problem? There are enough producers who make quality uplifting tunes ( Jonas Steur , Steve Helstrip, John O' Callaghan....)

But for me personally prog has just the better vibe tongue.gif
Astar
Most of uplifting trance etc. are s**t nowadays. Only some producers still makes good stuff. Progressive is the way today.

+1
and there is no need to use me as example i truly enjoy both progressive and uplifting unfortunately uplifting has been all the same lately and its rare something great comes out sure hope its gonna change but progressive is a sensational style of trance as well and i dont know what you mean by jumping around but when i play it in a club people dance tongue.gif obviously they dance when i play uplifting as well but progressive seems to be pretty popular around here so why not blink.gif rolleyes.gif
ASOT
i like prog-trance too, but not all the time!
Uplifting trance i can hear 24 h but prog-trance max. 2 hour
but prog-trance is comming bigger and bigger.
but there are some really good uplifting-trance producers left =)
look on anjunabeats...more are there really good uplifiting trance producers wink.gif

ah but fuzzion i'd say being in america is the reason why u guys like it so much. america always has had a big prog scene. sorry for using you mate wink.gif
i just miss quality like the old matt darey sad.gif why do they do this to us and deprive us of quality!

oh i am not mad laugh.gif wink.gif
i know what you mean m8 i can make more money playing progressive vs uplifting cuz uplifting is really weak here but i am not giving up i play them both cuz i love them both but the truth is progressive scene has been hott lately while uplifting is extremely boring and monotone for the exeption of few producers that still create quality but i think it ll be ok after all just will take some time biggrin.gif

Who is it who keeps using the phrase 'miami trance'? For christ sake, you cannot bracket every record Markus plays under that banner. He's probably the only known prog trance dj in Miami but he certainly hasnt spawned his own genre. ranting.gif

If you like Matt Darey you will find his sets regulaly posted here cos Fly is a big fan. He also has some sets available on his website... go check.

As for Fuzzion, I like his show and style. Bottom line is, if you dont like prog trance dont listen to it. We all have different tastes in music. It would be a boring place if we didnt.

i love trance, progressive an "straight"

but id hate to see it ALL go prog...

trance will loose its bollocks if it all goes prog, for music to be "raveable" it needs bollocks, i like prog, but i just cant jump up an down to it laugh.gif

bollocks is the way forward..... not prog cool.gif

oh and "miami" trance... yeh rite laugh.gif
dfective
i blame g&d laugh.gif

i think even darey has changed his style a bit, done a tiesto and went hard for a while, since he made that "mash it up" was it?
ArcticBeach
I love uplifting, vocal, epic, progy, yeah I just love trance wub.gif
Iceburgs
The only trance I don't really like is when it is just mainly bass and beats with a few odd sounds thrown in on sequence. I guess that is more like tribal? Whatever, it annoys the crap outta me. wink.gif

I think people's thoughts on progressive trance depend on who they listen to. Anyone to listens to GDJB regularly will tend to have an inkling towards progressive, whereas if someone only listens to sets by the likes of The Thrillseekers or Ronski Speed then they will be influenced by the more uplifting sounds.

For me, I like a balance of both. I am worried about the lack of good uplifting releases at the moment though, but it will come good again. smile.gif

Me too smile.gif

I've faith in John O'Callaghan though, and I'm hoping that Kenni Poulsen will put pen to sequencer again soon too.

Edit: Should've mentioned Icone too. smile.gif

Second time Ive been told to calm down on here in a week!! ranting.gif

No, but really - someone on here does keep referring to Miami Trance as if it is an entirely new genre Markus Schultz has created. He's a good dj but his style is nothing new.

Calm now!! wink.gif

well tribal should be completely eliminated.. complete rubbish laugh.gif
maybe we should start a petition and send to artists like lange, darey, ronski, saying we want them to start producing ultimate quality uplifting choons like the ones they used to. I must admit even artist like lange who I used to love a few years back have gone verrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy borrrrrrrrrrrringgggggggggggggg dry.gif

heh discussd this same matter with a friend of mine of the "scene" a half month ago tongue.gif

i've been into trance for like 4 years no( only 17 so yeah tongue.gif i know the classics of way back but i missed like 3 of the "deads" of trance lol) and i noticed how my taste and the scene itselfe evolved quite fast
I've always been a fan of uplifting trance, even hardtrance and "jump" ( aka norh french tekno and whatever) but since i really started listening to a state of trance 2 years ago i also noticed his changement in style tongue.gif
i yust listened to asot episode 124 and you cant quite compare that tongue.gif

to get to the point: "progresive" has made its way in, and how can you define a genre that is called "progresive"? i mean in the word itself you hear the worde "progres" to get forward. I think we reached a moment where our "progresive" isnt really progresive anymore but yust expanding itself over the whole trance scene tongue.gif ' (especially amerika etc but also noticing lil bith of changement in belgium we yust have a more hardtrance etc tradition tongue.gif you cant go to a big city without finding jump especially here in "west-vlaanderen)

i feel i am losing track on my post and the meaning of it tongue.gif so a lill conclusion, trance is still evolving even after it has been decleared dead numberous of times. uplifting is going to a period of crap tongue.gif but we all know progresive will make place after a x amount of time for a new form and that both the progresive and the uplifting wont dissapear but yust become more "adult" like yazz and rock did tongue.gif

for me progresive is already a more deeper form of trance but yeah that is already a personal interpretation

cheers, renZo

note: yust check my top5 a year ago i never wouldv imagined having these kinds of sound in a top5 of me...
