Fly
Well should i remove members post counts from their profiles at the side of eahc post, so they are only in your profile?

Maybe that would help the 0 posters from wondering why their post counts dont increase when they post in certain areas biggrin.gif

Remove the post counts? I don't think this is a good idea, although I don't mind if you do that anyway :)

and no, shouldnt remove them. post counts are a status symbol. people with high post counts just like touting seniority. gonna let you in on a dirty little secret. when im browsing the forum and i see someone has posted something really stupid + full of typos, i look at post count. if they are a high poster/mod, i politely correct them. if they are a newbie i.e. under 5 posts, i spew a flame. wink.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hmm.. some of the new people may be intimidated into keeping quiet because of these kinds of comments .. we all have been new here at some point.. so we have to be patient with newcomers wink.gif

i voted no .. just because i like to know how much posts people have .. but that wouldn't be a problem at all if you remove it.

all part of my sinister plan sandy
i shall edit and explain wink.gif

EDIT:
to start off, look at my post history, go wayyyyy back. all the way to my very first posts. you will notice something. look at the dates.

when i first joined this forum, i didnt come just for the downloads. i was a little intimidated too by the senior members, but i wanted to join the community, so i kept posting. soon i was a senior member myself. looking down, i see there are to distinct catagorys of people who come to this site.

1. the people who come to leech and remain under 10 posts

2. people that became and are becomming the forum regulars and posted a lot.

if fly deletes all the people from my first group, who stay for more than 6 months without posting, we will just be one happy little boat in the ocean, wont we be?smile.gif

there isnt much point deleting members:

one: it reduces the number we can reach by doing bulk emails
two: it doesnt create much of a difference on the database size. You have 200 pms does tongue.gif

So not much point deleting them, plus it can be risky, and can lead to senior members disappearing, like last time biggrin.gif

regardless of that, at least they took the time to read a topic, that would have to classified as participation, rather than to just post whenever they leech. wheh i started i didnt know n e one, but i got involved and i guess.... not really worked my way up, cuz im still the same, but i know more people like Peg.. who happens to be the biggest horn dog.. and Abdul.. who is like the biggest republican laugh.gif who dresses like a greaser tongue.gif j/k biggrin.gif. its like your meeting a new group and trying to fit in, i guess voting no would try to make everyone equal in this trance "society" and its never equal. you always start off @ zero and work your way up. so i guess i voted no tongue.gif

13/13 and I voted NO so now its 13/14

I think its a good idea to see who is a newbie and who is more of a senior
I also think u get more tolerant if u see a newbie post a classic question (and that person has 0 or 1 post) something like that

but still I think its too cluttered in the info column.. tongue.gif Ive said that before in another thread.. so I won't go over it again
TranceHeini

I see that you already did..

anyway, I voted yes since I do not care too much. also I know to some extent who is an active member or not and who is a newbie...

however, newbies wouldn't know which members are active..if they are curious tongue.gif

But by seeing it and the date of join you can still count user's number of posts wink.gif

what is the use of seeing only the post per day,, and not the total post? blink.gif
it's important for me. smile.gif
