Well it's half way thru the year and many dj/producers have done magnificently well already this year.
Who would you rate as the top 5 this year taking into consideration - dj sets, releases and just sheer 'presence'!
Mine: -
Armin Van Buuren - release of ASOT '05, his radio show and an artist album still coming...he truly is a genius this lad!
James Zabiela - dj magic...sampling, scratching, mixing beyond the boundaries set! Awesome
Marco V - the launch of 'In Charge', many a mind-blowing techno set and his artist album '200V' still forthcoming, the dutch maestro is ontop of his game!
Paul Van Dyk - pioneer of the dance scene, release of 'Politics of Dancing 2' comng soon...many a mind blowing set. Need i say more!
Eddie Halliwell - might not be releasing any material, but his dj'ing ability is just amazing. Playing alongside all the BIG names of dance, and still the most energetic performer i've seen. Total mastery behind the decks!

Armin Van Buuren - have seen him spin 3 times in the last 6 months and he never once failed to disappoint
Gareth Emery - I'm not just mentioning Gareth for obvious reasons. Las time I saw him spin back in March at Turnmills, he literally melted the crowd his set was so f*cking hot! His new compilation is a stormer as well, and there are loads of very very good things coming from him production wise
Eddie Halliwell - Saw him spin on Friday and the man created a trance tornado at Turnmills! Awesome hard tech-trance set, good selection and superior mixing. He managed to accidentally press the stop button on the decks with his elbow but just smiled and carried on. Made it seem as if it was planned!
Jon O'Callaghan - still havent seen the man spin live but his production rate is awesome. He just wont stop. And lucky for us, he maintains consistency at a very high level.
Above & Beyond - radio show's going well, productions are going well, and they're all such nice people... according to Jono, having spoken to him on Friday, they still crack up about the 'toilet incident'

Interesting to see everyone's top 5...Here's mine:
1.) Armin (duh!) - ASOT kicks my butt every week
2.) Gabriel and Dresden - Thier Record Label launch party at Rumi in Miami was one of the best experiences ever!
3.) Tiesto - Before I heard In Search of Sunrise 4, he wouldn't have made my list...but wow, he earned his place with his latest release. I loved that is was progressive and not the typical Tiesto Trance.
4.) Junkie XL - His music and live sets never fail to leave a lasting impression
5.) Deep Dish - Their last stop in Denver was simply amazing (although, looking at the track list from the Essential Mix at creamfields it appeared to be the same set song for song...makes you wonder...)
Markus Shulz is another worthy mention, but i guess i should stop now before i make this a top 10 list....
