Hi Guys,

I got a new DVD-RAM drive last week and tried installing it. The machine picks it up ok, but it won't allow me to burn any DVDs of any description. I've tried +R, -R and RAM, but none of them work. I get an access denied message any time I try to paste files to burn or creating a new folder.

This is strange since I have administrator priveleges on my machine (running Windows XP Home Edition). A friend (who bought the same DVD drive) recommended to login as the administrator itself, and once I had burned a DVD through that user then the rest of the settings for the other admins should run into sync.

Problem is, I don't know how to turn on the Administrator account since it's hidden away.

So could anyone help me? Or do you have any ideas as to why I can't get it installed properly?

Many thanks for your help.

what prog are you trying to use to burn with? The software you have may pick up the burner but wont support it for burning. thats the problem i got once.

DVD RAM doesnt require a piece of software to "burn" data onto it , its supposed to act like a hard drive or sumthing - not sure myself tho never had a dvd-ram drive biggrin.gif

I was just trying to use the normal Windows XP burning method. I have Nero but I think the version I have is too old to burn DVD-RAMs, but it should still burn + and - Rs.
