im trying to get people to post

The forum should be getting around 1500 posts a day, but we peak at around 800. We have 8000 members, and on average 500 posts a day, i think thats poor. But the people who do post, post a lot

yes but some people have been here 2 years and have 1 post. Its currently only a smnall minority that actually post.

that's because the large majority of members just come here for set downloads, and aren't interested in the community side of things. there's not a lot you can do about that methinks

indeed, but 99% of members who are now what i would call active came for the downloads and stayed for the community

if they were ever gonna start being active they would have during the last 2 years......i say BAN THEIR ASSES !!

its mad really..... we have nowhere the amount of users online at a time on my site.. .average of about 15-20 but we tend to get easy as many posts up a day

i think we are a lil less harsh on the spam tho.... well we dont let blatent spam go by but we tend to let topics go off on a tangent and not be too worried

I would have posted a lot more by now but the problem up until recently has been that I've had no internet access until the weekends. Thankfully I'm able to post on the forum pretty much every day now.

Yeah I'll admit I initially came for the downloads. But I got a lot more out of this forum when I stayed

my post counts per day is 2.77... not too bad...

when I am active, I am really active but sometimes do not login for days..

maybe I need to spam more

edit: these are overall top 10 most active users..maybe you should do something like top 10 most active users during the last week or last month to see who is pushing hard..

i agree this will produce spamming i am sure i dont think its a good idea why do we have to compete in that when clearly some of us have more time then others to spend here and its not a competition we all know who posts and who doesnt lets not make a tournament out of that

I did not mean a competition or something...I just thought since we have overall top 10 most active users, we could do it for the last month or week so that we "might" see member names other than Fly, Michcio, Phg, Pegasus,Sprigan, Addict_in_Trance, trance lova etc... they are all very well known active users..

I don't think that this will increase spamming...in fact, I don't think people would post more just for being in that list

unfortunately, there is no way of selecting non-spam posts to assess a user's contribution to the forum, other than reading all posts, or is there

and I just noticed one thing...

newest member "marky" was first with 51.. and then 49..posts per day..

dont think it really works... apparently: "Marky has 34 posts per day" yet he only has one post and only joined today?

maybe because he posted right after he joined,

so his number of days joined could be 0.0something, hence when the number of posts divided by that 0.0something number, it gives a very large number

that number will continue to drop until it reaches 1

yeah as blinque says if he/she posts just after he/she signs up it will mean he/she goes to the top, until the next day which will give a more accruate result
