INTERVIEW WITH RONSKI SPEED

Q) First of all thanks so much for this interview. i think the best way to
get started to find out little more about ronski speed. how did this project
was created, whos idea was it and who is behind it (a lot of people dont know
the names and history)

A) In 1997 Rough Mullar and me started to create our own music. We founded the
project Sonorous. In the next years (after some Sonorous Tracks and Remixes
like "Glass Garden", "Second Sun" and "Protonic") we both decide to split
the Projects in Ronski Speed (Sun Decade) with the typical Uplifting Sound
and Sonorous, that has become more progressive sounding. Furthermore we
both co-produced the Mirco De Govia in the beginning ("Epic Monotlith",
"Things That Matter", Remixes for Ralphie B's "Massive"., Lasgo's
"Something", Kyau vs. Albert's "Velvet Morning"). With the singer Devia Lea
we found the right voice for our Sun Decade Project in 2002. The Tracks
"I'm Alone" and "Follow You" became bangin tunes and were played
everywhere. After the Remixes for Armin Van Buuren, Binary Finary, Aly &
Fila, Goldenscan, Tatana, Rusch & Murray and the Singles "Iris" and E.O.S."
the typical Ronski Speed Sound has now established all over the scene.
Thats the history.

Q) One of the most unavoidable questions what does EOS stand for?

A) E.O.S. stands for End Of Summer. I wrote the track in late summer of 2003.
but when it was time to release it it was already the winter time of 2004.
So we decided to call it simply "E.O.S.". (Funny how the UK release was in
the end of summer 2004...8))

Q) Ronski speed style is amazing always nice uplifting beat with great
melody how was this particular way of music chosen

A) Everybody has to develope his own styles and sounds. If you really like
what you are doing, you can't do anything wrong.

Q) What would you say was the breakthrough release for ronski speed?

A) Sun Decade "I'm Alone" Ronski Speed Remix

Q) What can we expect from you this year? i know there is a lot of places
you will dj but as far as the productions give us any info on whats coming up
this year?

A) At the moment it is for shure very hard to go to the studio because of all
the trips all over the world. So thatswhy we decided to concentrate on
Ronski Speed own productions and Collaborations.
In the beginning of April the "2Day EP" will appear on euphonic. this will
contain 3 tracks "2Day", "I.C." and "The Lights".
For June it is planned to release a collaboration with a new polish talent
called Sebastian Sand. The Track "Sole Survivor" is already exclusive on
the Positive Ways 4 compilation mixed by Kyau vs. Albert.

Q) What do you think about your latest release asarja that was made
together with mirco de govia?

A) Many people know that we are close friends and wanted that we create a
track togheter after working a lot in the background. Last chistmas time we
found the space to sit togheter and create that track.
The feedbacks were amazing DJ's like Paul Van Dyk, Ferry corsten, Tiesto,
Above & Beyond, Lange, Thrillseekers and many more gave their support.

Q) I know that you are friends with mirco de govia, sonorous, kyau vs
albert! should we expect any more collaborations with these guys?(honestly its
always briliant!!!)

A) We always think about such things but it's nothing planned. Everybody's
shedule is full. but who knows.

Q) What do you like more producing, remixing or djing?

A) Producing my own tracks and see how the people react when i spin them.

Q) Which one of your productions is the most special for you?

A) I think the production and composition of "I'm Alone" was special for me. I
composed it at the loveparade in 2001 in Berlin. I loved the harmonies and
the vocal parts. It took more than 1 year to get the track finished and
find the right singer. It was the first track for me to come up from the
background and represent my own sound.

Q) What was your most enjoyable collaboration with other producer and
why?

A) We sit togheter with Jono Grant of Above & Beyond in the studio. We had a
lot of fun but too less time to get a track finished. I think the Demo will
always stay in our archives.

Q) what is the best remix you think you ever did?

A) I think Aly & Fila's "Eye Of Horus". The track needs the right production.
The improved the original a lot and it will stay a classic tune.

Q) How long does it normally take to make a track and where do you get
your inspiration?

A) Usually I create my ideas at my home PC. They I listen to them some weeks
later. Then I play my demo's to the euphonic guys. And then we decide which
track to choose. So sometime tracks needs month to see the a release. The
final production takes between 3 - 4 weeks, sometimes faster.
From where Inspiration is hard to say. From everywhere.

Q) As a dj where is your dream to play and can we expect you in united
states anytime soon (i would like to see you live so this question is for me
lol)

A) I already played in the USA in L.A. and San Francisco some weeks before.
Next gigs in the american continent is at the loveparade in mexico in
march. It will take place in acapulco. Shurely a place to come. I would
like to play in Australia. So let's see if this dream will come true this
year.

Q) Ronski speed is always associated with uplifting melodic trance. is
there any thoughts about trying new styles?

A) My 2Day EP contains an techy style track called "I.C." and a slower laid
back track "the lights". Also my Collaboration with Sebastian Sand sound a
bit different. But mainly I don't really want to change my style. A lot of
other Trance music bores me.

Q) What do you guys do when you dont do music (i know its probably very
rare)?

A) I sit down and relax. I read a lot newspapers and book during my travels.

Q) What are your hobbies? what kind of sports you like? anything you wanna
tell us

A) The only thing I like is driving my car with a lot of "speed"....

just want to thank you for this interview and from our uk trance
alliance community we wish you the best this year and always remember we are
behind you all the way!!!!

jeez that's actually how I feel about a lot of their stuff ph34r.gif
Even though it might now be my favorite I do respect these guys. In my opinion their pal Mirco De Govia is a supremely talented guy - a great guy to have on your team. What a life, a bunch of friends together releasing their tracks on their own label (with main men Kyau & Albert of course).
By the way very nice interview!
