Full Version: Beginner Friendly Production Software

I am planning on getting into production and I am stuck on which software program to get that is beginner friendly. I want to be able to plug in a Yamaha Keyboard and use it in conjunction with the software so the softwate obviously needs to be MIDI compatible. I'd also like it to be able to use VST's.

Any ideas?

Dunno,, but Fruityloops is the best to start with i guess.. i use Cubase but thatīs far more difficult .. not that iīm good or something wink.gif .
Get the free demo version or something.. and add some member who use that too in your msn... he will and can help you better...good luck mate!!!

Fruity Loops for sure....
I use it too since may this year
add me to msn, I will tell you where you can get FL and will help you learning it.
Don't forget, start messing with it when you have it just in.
That will teach you how the programm works wink.gif

don't forget he's a beginner.
I don't know if he used first some drag and drop programms ?
they are very standardy but learn you how a tune is builded up tongue.gif
After you learned how to build up a tune, you have to learn how chords work. When you know that you have to make basslines, melodies, stringpartches and FX'es on your own (I really advice FL for that). It seems he already knows that because he asks for a midi interface. After you have much experience with that you're ready to mess with VST's (first learn how the programm works). Then it's time to get to work with Cubase or Reason.

really think you should start with a program with VST support...drop Reason,, it is too crappy to make a decent track in the begin of the producing career,, really should say to start with Fruity Loops,,, and the word says it all,,, just try to make a 808/909 kick looping and add some percussion to it.. sounds easy but it's a fun challenge to do i think.. even try to look in the manuals for the program for the key commands... really helpfull. You may buy my Reason 2.5 cd's if you want.. not planning to use that crap again... smile.gif

and IF you really want to use Reason, you can always rewire it into Fruity Loops, Cubase, and maybe Logic too and use it with some VST's then wink.gif
