I´m planning to buy some turntables in March 2005, and I saw the following sets:

2 x Technics SL1200mk2 with (orthophone? concorde element) and as mixer 1 x Dateq XTC (costing 1800 eu, which I have in March)

and this one:

2 x Technics SL1200mk2 with (orthophone? concorde element) and as mixer 1 x Pioneer DJM 500 (costing 2050 eu)

I think a 3 channel mixer will be enough for me (perhaps I want a cd-player too) but if you guys think the djm500 is a lot better than the dateq XTC, I will go for that one.

Or do you advise me to buy a different mixer?

Thanks for those replying wink.gif

well what are the chances of you bringing around your Decks. I'd say buy a completely different mixer if your just using it for home.

What kind of mixer do you advise? rolleyes.gif

Dateqs are so professional but i would buy the Pioneer ones.....they are used everywhere and it has some
effects, so if u get used of this, playing at a party will be no problem (technically).

What Ortofons are you going to buy?

why is that?

I can imagine some mixers are much better than others, but what's the difference for home/club-use?

I would go Pioneer, man..

That is a real good mixer. A lot of bedroom dj's use it, maybe 'cause of the effects wink.gif

p.s. try to order it in silver, it really goes with the tt's
DJ Vision
Both are good mixers. I prefer the Pioneer only beacause it has more effects you can play with. As for the turntables, Nothing beats Technics when it comes to precision mixing. wink.gif

I would try to upgrade the DJM 500 to the DJM 600 though. The extra dollars would definately be worth it.
djfuzzion
pioneer of course quality is unbeatable by anybody and every club has 600 so yeah i would definetly spent little more on 600 tongue.gif

DJM 500 is one of the best mixers on the world so U should by that one with DJM 500

has got a lot of great FX in itself
almost in every good club they got DJM 500 or DJM 600 laugh.gif

Hi mate I used to have a Pioneer DJM500 a few years ago so know alot about them, Main difference's are:-

DJM600

Adjustable Xfader
Expanded FX (Added Transform, Filter & Sampler)
Think they tweeked the EQ a little too!

Splash the extra £150-£200 on the 600 is my advice dude!

One of my frined said, that the djm500 is having some enginiering problems....which
were fixed only in 600 series.

Ok, thanks guys I will surely go for the Pioneer (think 500)
Another question from my side hypocritesmiley.png :
Would it be smart to buy 1 Technics SL1200 MKII., a pioneer djm500 and, instead of another MKII, a Pioneer cdj-800?

Thinking about this because I really want a cdj too but don´t have the money for both 2 MKII AND a cdj-800...

btw, I will then buy that 2nd MKII later for sure

Vynils dont come easy and its not cheap in my country , So Me myself bought a mp3 vinyl simulator d-Vinyl 2020 . Wanted To get FS but was too late .. So im still fine with my d-Vinyl + 2x sl 1210s mk2 . Still got the original vinyl feel " just a lil bit of ms latency ":D

Anyway its fine to opt for one TT & one CD'j , Just make sure u have the Right tune at the right time . if can't rip the vinyl to Cd and off u go tongue.gif
